Would you have thrived in the 1800's or barely survived?

Do you think you would have survived well, living in the 1800's? What would you have done to generate an income? Where would you have lived? I can't imagine living in the 1800's. No computers! No internet. What would you do with yourself all day? To me it sounds boring. However, from everything I've heard about living in the 1800's, it was anything but boring. There was always something to do. Most people had to work very hard physically to ensure their families could survive. And, sometimes that meant farming or running a small business where you would sell your own goods. I am not sure that I would have been a good farmer. But, I could probably have used my mothering and housewife skills to raise a family. Those skills translate any generation. I'm just assuming I would be one of those people that got married and had a family in the 1800's, cause that's the choice I made in this century. So, why would my choices have been any different if I lived 100 plus years ago? With that being said, if required, I could have used my business skills during that time, to run a small farm or business. Smart women with savvy skills have always been successful in any century. How do you think you would have done, living in the 1800's? Would you have thrived or barely survived?

Oh I’m sure I would have thrived back in the 1800’s. I too would have had a family. I would sew our clothing and make meals from scratch. I think it would be so neat to live back then. There would be no internet or phones- but we would not know the wiser- I love the Laura Ingalls days- I would be a great farmer- and I probably would sew for other people too- I’m very crafty-

I would love to have lived in the 1800's. I would probably have been an outlaw. Running around robbing banks and stealing horses. Whoohooo...what fun. Robbing stage coaches and trains! I would have been the most famous female outlaw in history. Good times, good times. *wink*

I think I could have survived very well in the 1800's. I would probably do the same as I'm doing right now...being a farmer. I already know how to use horses for labor etc, as when I was a kid that's pretty much all we had back then. (We didn't get our first tractor until I was about 8 or 9) I know how to survive with a woodstove, and to cook on it as well as to use it for heat. I know how to chop my own wood, and did it for quite a few years. The only thing I would have had a big problem with is the lack of 21st century medical care. If I would have gotten my cancer back then my goose would have been cooked for sure (and not in the woodstove either lol)
