I have two little boys a three year old and a one year old. My oldest is still potty training(which has its goods and bads) hes very stubborn. Well I put a pullup on him when its bed time and because I give my one year old a sippy i have to give him one. well he pees so much at night he pees straight through the pull up. I just had to buy him a brand new mattress because he had peed on his old one so many times I couldn't get rid of the smell. Is it right to give my one yr old a sippy at night and not him. I cant take the sippy away from my one year old because I just stopped giving him a passy at night. does anyone have suggestions on how I can break my three year old from his sippy at night. I cant afford to keep buying mattresses. As for the potty training I was thinking about taking my one yr old who is actually 18 months and start sitting him on the potty and making it a competition with my oldest (im out of ideas) can anyone give me some suggestions.

First thing I would do is buy a plastic mattress cover so your mattress doesn't get ruined. They sell these in the baby section of WalMart of ToysRUs, etc. And I would also do as the previous poster mentioned - limit the amount of water you put in the sippy. Before going to bed, stop him from drinking ANYTHING for at least 1.5 hour before bed and then he used the potty before bed. Then, with just a little water in the sippy - you are less likely to have such a huge mess...but that cover will be there just in case. And it isn't as cruel as it may sound, but your son is 3 years old. If he does pee onto the mattress, he should help you clean up the mess. It isn't about "punishment" as it is about showing what it is like to clean it up and explain that if he didn't have that sippy at night then he wouldn't have any messes to clean up. Eventually he will either stoping taking the sippy or be able to hold it longer. I would not though just stop giving him the sippy if the one year old gets one and they are in the same room. Good Luck!!

first making a competition will get you no where as for taking it he will give it up when he is ready but don't fill the sippy all the way only fill half then a quarter then he wil realize that there is no point in the sippy.as for poty training I used to put a potty in the bedroom so they did not have far to go at night it worked out well.I wish you luck Have a great day.
