On September 11th 2001 I was sitting home in bed. I had just got my husband out the door to work and I turned on the news just after the first plane hit. I watched in horror as the second plane hit and realised it was no accident. I was 6 months pregnant with my first child and the emotions hit me so hard.
When I got up that morning I was excited to celebrate my second wedding anniversary. We had great dinner plans and a nice evening out of the house. Due to the attacks we would not celebrate a normal anniversary for 3 years. It was impossible to leave the house and not think of the tragedy.
My husband was building the Olympics in Park City, Utah and the site was out under tight security. They were notified that they might be a target, but they had to stay and finish out the day instead of sending the workers home. I was so worried that I might lose my husband that day.
It took me a while to get past what had happened to come to the point where I was so proud of the unity of my nation. I love the fact that we are celebrating a holliday today instead of letting the terrorists win by still morning. I morn for thoes who were effected, but I stand tall and proud to be an American and today I celebrate.
What is your 9-11 story?

I feel so sad for the ones that lost their family members and friends that day. I was just getting ready to go to a college class and I had the tv on just for the background noise. Then I heard them talking about what had happened. So I sat down and watched some of it. Everybody was calling me and asking if I had heard what had happened. So I decided to skip class that day and watch the news to see what all was going on. One of my college friends used to live there and her brother was a firefighter there. She was so worried about him because she couldn't get ahold of him. Finally she got him on the phone and he was alright.

It was like the whole country shut down that day. Even if you had gone to class you still would have ended up watching it or listening to it some how.
