I've got way too many tomatoes this year. That's a good thing. I've frozen quit a bit. I've given a lot a way. So. . .what do you use your tomatoes in? I mean, besides sauces and basic stuff? Got any favorite recipes? Something new and creative? I'll be using tomatoes for a lot this year. I'm certain I have more than enough to last until harvest time next year. . . but I need some new and creative recipes!

I used to make a nice chutney years ago, with tomatoes, onions and curry with sugar and cook it up and put them in jars, even green ones, my dad used to love my chutney on ham and other meats...

Lila you are allowed to do recipes as long as another person asks for them and as long as the recipe is not the start of the discussion. I've helped several people with there cooking needs and I've even posted recipes for cleaning/laundry too! Mylot is a social site and a family site and members of the family are allowed to help each other. The reason why you cannot use a recipe to start a discussion is obviously for spam/cheating purposes. Someone like me could just post recipes until the sun novas out and end up making out like a bandit. With the response only system, people only make a little change for posting a recipe as a response instead of flooding the site with spam.

Oh I forgot this part. But jokes and recipes are also banned if they are proven that they are simple copy and pastes. If they are originals then its quite alright.

I use tomatoes in chili, spaghetti sauce, and ghoulash. If you use a blender and make tomato sauce, you can use quite a few making homemade spaghetti sauce. Simmer the tomato sauce with your spices for about 30 min. to let the spice flavor comeout. I always put garlic powder, dried onion and italian seasonings in mine.

I love to make a homemade salsa. I chop up the tomatoes, add onions, garlic and cilantro. Then I add olive oil, basalmic vinegar and a little salt. I use this fresh to make bruchetta,or I can it or freeze it for later use as salsa or sauce over pork chops and chicken.

Meatsauce, tomato sauce or salsa! =) If needed I can post the recipes later. Also you would have gotten more responses by putting this in cooking, but I can sort of see why you put it in gardening.
