I suppose that most parents wonder if their children are learning everything that they need to know. I am wondering if there are any things that you all deem essential in graduating your children. Subjects? Life Skills? Anything else? Let's toss some ideas around and see what we can come up with.

I believe all kids should know basic lifeskills and how to balance a checkbbook, money management, interveiwing skills, math,. Sometimes too much emphasis is put on the book work in school to realize that these kids don't know basic life skills that they will need. How many high school kids these days know how to cook a meal instead of fast food or a microwave or frozen pizza? My daughters are home schooled and I feel that they need to know how to cook, plan meals, money management, etc. They need to know other things too as I am sure that neither of them will be just a stay at home wife or mother, but they need these skills to get through life.

I have been teaching my children to cook for years. I think they have that skill down. I know a lot of teenagers who cannot cook, though. They tend to microwave a lot of foods and eat out a lot more than my daughters do.
