I wonder if anyone has any experience with this. MP3 is a form of compression. The question is... does the quality is reduced like with a jpeg image when compressed? Or can you recover the original quality when you uncompress it back into a wave file?

once compressed , it stays compressed. You cannot restore it to it's original form. You can convert it but it would not be the same. If you have it in wav, i would suggest that you maintain as it is and if you want to make sure then make a back up copy (in a cd,flashdrive or external drive.

i dont think you lose quality and if you do you can just encode the file back to high quality
