Car Registration

In my state we register our cars every year or pay slightly less than double and do it every two years. In my county we have to have an emissions test and certification every two years. I got my notice the other and went and got the test and my 19 year old car passed with flying colors like it always has. Then when I was gathering the stuff together to write a check and send it in, I noticed you could do it by phone. So I tried it. After an endless number of steps I reached the place to start entering the data to do it and it asked for something and a split second later said incorrect entry and hung up. So I tried again and got past that point and to the last number before entering the credit card information which was the inspection station number. Well first I had to find it and it turned out to be two letters and three numbers, but before I could find the number pad for the first letter, it said incorrect entry and hung up. So I checked the letters and wrote the number out in all numbers to be ready and tried again. I got to the same point and got the first number in when it hung up on me again. So I called the number again and finally found a way to speak to a person. After waiting about 30 minutes listening to the absolute worst hold music ever, a woman came on and I told her that the phone system wasn't working and she said they knew it and proceeded to tell me where I had had the problem which was not the case at all. When I told where I had the problem, she said no it was the other place. She said I could keep trying or go to the online site. I told her I would not go to the online site because the last time I went there to do my state income taxes, it had infected my computer with a virus and the taxes didn't go through either and this made her mad, I guess, because she hung up on me. So after wasting more time on the phone than it took to drive to and from the inspection station and get the inspection trying to save a trip to the post office and a stamp, that is exactly what I will have to do, use snail mail to send in everything.

That would make me so mad! I can't believe that you were treated that way! I would send it in and I would also send a letter to the Department Manager. I would explain what happened and let her know that I was very unhappy. Do not let them get away with it. If they don't want to talk and be nice, don't offer the phone service.

I thought about doing that and finally decided it just wasn't worth the time and effort. When I first moved here we had a Republican governor and in spite of a Democrat controlled legislature and democrates in several of the other elected state offices, he mangaged to streamline the state statement and make it run fairly well and efficiently. Then a Democrat was elected and the first thing he did was expand the state government by close to 100% and all these new buraucrats started fixing things that weren't broken in order to justify there unecessary jobs and high salaries. The car registration fee was close to doubled for example. Another is that the online filing of taxes that had been secure and so easy to use that I bragged to friends in other states about it was changed. It was turned into a site that was shared with many other areas and had all kinds of supposed improved security. But not only was it a lot harder to use but when I went there it infected my computer with a virus that took over 4 months to get rid of. And, even worse my taxes didn't get filed when I thought they had and I only found out when I called to see why my refund was so late. By the way this governor is now running for the Demoratic nomination for President.
