Yesterday me and my son went to the hospital. He were suppose to have a surgery on his both knees. This was a planed task. I have taken the day of from my part time work, since I should have been there. This cost me two holidays that I could have spent in better way. I also had a meeting I should have attend to, but had to skip. My son was really nerves and did not wanted to do this. He had some real problems with this and I had to calm him down the hole day.
Every thing was planed, the hospital staf had given us a room, and talked to us, given us food and everything they was suppose to do when people are signing in. In the afternoon we got to see the doctor who was suppose to make this surgery. But, after we had talked about this operation He had concluded that it would not help my son to do this. Because of hes knee bones already had grown finished. He talked about a different way to do this, however it was not planed and it would have to be a more complicated rehabilitation after. He did not think it was necessary to do this at this point.
The conclusion is that we had to go home again and nothing was done. I was of course happy for my son who gone happy, but I lost money in this process. Paying for the travel, paying for the holidays I had to use, and the time I lost.
Since I am single, I did not have anyone els to help me with this one thing. I had to be there with him and if his father should have done this trip he had paid a lot more since we do not live in the same area in Sweden. I live in the south, he lives in the north. It had been a long trip for him to do.
well, what do you think about hospital and their planed actions. I am really upset with this. What would you have done. I mean, my son had to go through a tough day for nothing??????

I don't get it... why would the doctor schedule an operation only to say that there is an alternative for it? It is good that your son did not have to undergo the surgery but the fact remains that the first diagnosis was incorrect... the two of you lost a lot of time and money for nothing...

He did stated and said he was sorry that he had not looked at the pictures and cal us by the phone earlier. But I still wonder, Do the doctors not plan better and take at least a peak at the pictures more than one day before they go to a surgery?. I know I would have. But I am not a doctor. But I know how important a plan is when you are doing something.
