I find myself planning menus days or even weeks in advance especially if a holiday is coming up. I will buy the ingredients sometimes months in advance for certain meals, like thanksgiving which I enjoy probably the most in terms of holidays. and at times when I wake up in the morning I am already planning what I will cook that evening.

One of the ways I control my weight is to eat small amounts of what I REALLY want, so I have to keep the pantry stocked.
For holidays, everyone comes here, so I plan and print my menu and carry a copy wherever I go. Guests are welcome to bring whatever puts them in the holiday spirit... we get some interesting combinations that way!!

Good idea, I always try to make a list and carry around with me too. Not just groceries either.

I try to plan my menus for the week on my shopping day. I check what we have on hand . Make a menu then a shopping list of what we need to buy. This seems to save us money on the grocery bill. I love planning the holiday menus way in advance too. I used to cater dinners when we lived in Michigan.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do for thanksgiving this year I may try some new things. I gave up on eating shellfish a few years ago and Lot of my dishes had shrimp in them. Like I said I haven't decide for this year.

that is the best way to prep first or have someone do the prep for you and then do the cooking yourself.
