It is on the other side of the room, that's why I saw it, but while I'll kill little bugs, I don't like to kill big ones!!! EWWWW!!! I don't know what kind of spider it is, but it does have thick legs. It has a web up against the ceiling so I don't think its a tarantula. It has now slipped out of sight, but now I'm going to be worring about it!!!

I do hate big spider. I was bitten by a spider when i was small(about 8 or 9 years old)and i was bitten at the neck(i remember two bait). It was very scary, because the spider is the size of my neck. I was lucky, because the spider is not very poisonous. If not,i won't be sitting here writing this response. Now... I'm just like spiderman, was bitten by a spider. Just that, my spider is not radioactive spider. Hahaha....

Although I've met some people who don't believe in killing spiders, I'm not one of them. So I'll gladly share my favorite method of getting the little critters. I hit them with a spray of Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner! This morning I brought a step stool in from the porch and when I set it down in the middle of the kitchen floor, a spider went crawling down from a single thread of web. I grabbed a bottle of foaming dish detergent and threw a blob of it at the spider. Immobilized in a second. Any foaming soap will do, but it is easier to aim with an aerosol can.

Thanks for the advice. I haven't seen her lately. I really don't like to kill spiders, anything that eats mesquidos is a friend, I just wish she were outside eating them, not inside where there aren't any! I say that anything that eats bugs & rodents (vermin) is a friend of mine. So I try to leave unmolested even icky things like bats & snakes (so long as they aren't poisonious.) I've never actually seen a poisonious snake in the wild so I don't know if I know what I'd do if I did. ACTUALLY, I had a couple of pet snakes.... Well, I never claimed not to be weird!

Bats are kewl. I've never understood why people don't like them! Where I grew up we had lots of snakes, both poisonous and not, so I am a bit used to them, but being allergic to spider bites, when I see one of those crawlies, I take a them or me attitude. You are right about the mosquitoes, though.

I live in Austin, Texas. Not only the Capital of the great state of Texas, but the Capital of the largest urban bat colony! Little did they know when they built the new Congress Ave. bridge they were building perfect bat habitate.

I would have killed it, i hate spiders and i would be afraid it would get into my bed at night.I killed a huge spider today...I keep a can of spray (Raid) and when i see spiders i just spray them real good...They build webs around in my yard and i will run into one of their webs sometimes and i =do a little jig, happy feet and flying hands ,if anyone were to see me they would probably think i was crazy..

If she were in the bedroom I'd probably be killing it, but she's pretty far from it & would have to get past my cats to get to it! LOL Spiders in the yard, I've lately had the most humongus webs around, I've never seen such big webs - or spiders for that matter. They seem to be yellow, they look big enough to catch small low flying planes - I mean birds. I've done my very best to avoid them when I do have to go outside.! But one morning they were right across the eaves in front of the front door! I had to pull that one down because the roomie couldn't have seen it! 300+ lbs of panicing blind person isn't a pleasent sight let me tell you!

Oww come on, ElicBxn, do not be afraid with those big spiders. Of course it is not a Tarantula. It is just a cousin . You know what, those big black spiders are used in our place for spider fights, and if you happen to live in our place, you can make money out of those spiders. In fact three weeks ago a boy nearly got killed while looking for big spiders in a forested area of our place. He slipped his footing from a rocky ledge to catch a spider hanging on a tree branch and feel on a deep lake crossing the forest. He drowned but eventually was revived by a medical student who happened to be nearby to give him mouth to mouth resuscitation. And going back to your concern about that ugly black spider, stop worrying yourself that it has now slipped out of your sight. You see, that spider is now very much worried also that you might see it again and it will hide itself far away from you

A couple of my mouse traps! - Why would a rodent come into an area with all my cats? I don't know, they've gotten 3 rats & a mouse!
Thanks for the laugh!I am not as afraid of spiders as most of the people I know. My roomie isn't afraid of them, if they are where she can see them, but not run into them. I have a friend who believes that if she sees a spider it must die!Mostly it just startled me. Its very true that in some places in the world, living with critters we "americans" meaning U.S. & probably most Canadian citizens would get creeped out by is normal. I have heard that some places in India (not to say all places) consider having a snake in the house good luck. they even put out food. From what I know about snakes, they prefer to catch their own food. But maybe the food that's left out attacts the rodents & they eat them! Personally, I prefer my mouse/rat traps to have 4 legs & fur!

I had the same problem a few days ago and im absolutly terriefied of spiders... i had a big one on my wall and it run off, just the same as yours... i thought it had gone, but i was still always looking over my shoulder for it, and it was above my door so i was too afraid to get out of there... so i called for my dad who got it for me, so the only advice i can give you is, do not panic and wait for it to return, then call for someone to help you...

I was under the impression you were afraid of it, well in such a case just call for your roomie to splat the thing!

Put it in a jar and feed it raw hamburger meat. They suck out the blood. And name it "George". That is what really bored people do with spiders they find around the house.

Hi Elic I think spiders are cool! They represent the creative aspect of the Goddess. I get these teen tiny little spiders in the house. I have garden spiders in my garden. Not as big as the one youj have though.

I don't mind the small ones, its when they are big enough to see the legs from 10 feet away they are getting too big! We've had just huge spider webs with equally large spiders outside & I've been doing my best just to avoid them. I wish she'd go outside again & do her bit out there.

You wouldn't have to worry about it if you just smushed it in the first play. Next time you see it, grab a shoe...and THWACK!!! Then, get a broom and dustpan, and flush it down the toilet....bye bye spider.

Is there any way, that when you see it again, you could try to scoop it in a container, with a lid of course and just chuck it outdoors? I was reading the other responses you made here and see you're not afraid of spiders like I'm not either...I don't like the idea of killing spiders due to an old wives tale my great-grandmother told me, that it was bad luck to kill a spider--Just how big is big, with this spider anyway??

She's probably larger than a silver dollar, but probably not by much. She looked to me like she could jump, so I didn't go poking at her either! I'd probably be more willing to try & get her out if she wasn't over my head on the wall! LOL

You should try to find where that spider is now because it might be poisonous and might harm you; God forbid. A spider that big should not be taken for granted. But please, if there is another way, please don't kill the spider. Just relocate it outside your house as far as you can. You can use a broom to capture it, just sweep the broom across its web with the spider in it. It won't jump towards you so don't worry. It will be busy hanging on to dear life in that broom, or it will try to span a web and try to fall to the ground. It's a good idea to have another person when you this so that he can just catch the spider in jar if it tries to fall to the ground. Put it inside that jar and relocate it. Cheers!

Well, if it crawled all the way from the front of the house to the back of the house & managed to get past most of the 20 odd cats I have, then I guess I was meant to be spider bit!

Your story got a good laugh out of me for I have a story to tell you! I was in a chat room years ago and talking to a few people and this one guy was a flirt but I talked to him anyway. Anyway, there was a spider on the wall and I told him about it and he said if he were that spider he'd get into my lap and I said I'd squish you. He said, "I'd wear a helmet." I laughed so hard that I cried! We were friends from then on for about 2 years and then lost touch. Just as well for I'm very happily married but it was nice having someone to talk to.

You should have heard my scream when I found one of those in my bath tub! I washed it down the drain and then had the misfortune to look up. There was another one. It was on the high celing so I left it. That is what I do. As long as I don't see them and they don't invade my space we're alright. When they invade they die! I don't do it myself but they still die. Wait till you find a scorpion in your hall like I did.
