I wan't to quit smoking. But how?

September 14, 2007 12:06am CST
I started occasional smoking as for fun and just to give company to my circle of friends, but now almost a packet a day; never thought that i would be addicted to this extent. I know it's bad for me, can't help not burning a cig. Everyday i start with making a promise, "i will cut down some cigs today" but never practically. I just want to reduce the number of cigarettes a day if not completely avoid. Are you experiencing the same difficulty? I have seen people quit easily, but they were not as addicted as me. What could be the ways that i can quit or reduce my nicotine consumption.

Be determine on your target.First day reduce 20% smoking then 30% nd carry on you'll automatically quit this. And if ever u want to have one more than remember the person to whom u love most whether it is your Mom,Dad,Brother,Sister or girl friend.Their love will force u to quit it.

hi cuteshreya, thanks for your suggestion. That means i will have to set a target reduction per each day and then abide by it forcefully with strong commitment thereby reducing as each day passes by. This could be a good idea, but it will all depend upon my willpower to control it. Thanks, i will carry it out, lets see and if i succeed, some credit will go to you and write a thank note later.

First of all, let me tell you. Don't waste your money on any fancy product you see in the store as most are scams. Yeah, you might get lucky and find the one and ONLY one that actually works but the likelihood of that is slim. I can tell you something you should try though. It's something I learned in one of my psych classes. Everytime you have the urge to smoke, find something to replace that urge. Start out with something simple and gradually get into a more detailed activity. starting out with a simple activity and doing it in replace of everytime you have the urge to smoke will slowly help you, even if you dont do that activity all the time, and when you feel as though you're ready, move unto bigger game. I sadly cant think of any examples right now, and dont even know if I clearly got my point across as it's 4am and I haven't went to bed yet, haha :-p I hope this helps, if you understand it! If not, just send a message to me or i'll try to find this topic again and respond :)
