Do you kick out your children?

Parents: Do you ask your children to move out of your house once they reach the age of 18? Here in the Philippines that is not the custom. The children usually stay in the parents' house as long as they are single. They are expected to move out when they get married. Sometimes even after marriage they still stay in the parents' house.

Well. my son is 22, he has been in the Navy for almost 3 years now but will be coming home to Mom when he gets out. He has told me to keep his room ready. He will only be here part time though since he will be going away to college. I am not sure if I would want him here on a full time basis since we do have different life styles but I would not kick him out unless there was a really good reason.

Hi kababayan. That's what it's all about -- helping each other. It then becomes a mutually beneficial arrangement.

With China's booming economy I guess it's easier nowadays to become independent. I really think economics has something to do with it.
