What's the oddest home made beauty treatment you ever used?

One of the strangest home made beauty treatments that I ever used, contained tomatoes. And, it gave me the worst pimple break out of my life. Apparently, I didn't know my skin was allergic to tomatoes. Funny, since I eat tomato based meals all the time. I guess it works differently on the skin. Next time I wanted to use a homemade skin care remedy, I stuck to the basics like bananas and oatmeal. Those don't seem to bother my skin too much. At least not yet. So, what's the strangest homemade beauty treatment you've ever used? Did it cause a bad reaction on your skin?

I did some research on those home made beauty treatment before and some of the weird ones, I got them out of the list. If you wish to have some more recipes, here is what I collected: http://beauty-tricks.com/index.php?option=com_facileforms&Itemid=&ff_name=ReviewList&ff_param_section=8&ff_param_cat=46&ff_param_limit=10&ff_param_order=SubmissionDateNew Anyway, I haven't really got some strange reaction from home made beauty treatment. But it's funny to see what my mom mix in her little bowl sometimes and put on her skin. I remember one time she mixed something and put that on her face (a pure white mask), I laughed really hard because its tightening effect was so "effective" that my mom felt kind of pressurized! Later, she decided to follow my recipes, instead of her wild imagination!

Oh, that's too cute! I did something similar once with a homemade mud. I didn't know how to prepare it and it was a mess. That was ages ago. Since, I got online and found such wonderful beauty sites such as yours, I have been more effective at using home beauty treatments without adverse effects. You always have the best homemade beauty treatments on your site and blog. Thanks for the link. I will check it out. Best wishes.

Would you happen to have a recipe for homemade shampoo using ingredients that are readily available at the grocery store? Thank you for your help.

The strangest for me was the oatmeal. I thought it was just a crazy idea to use food on my skin. However that is the best one I have ever come across. I love it and no reaction here. Made my skin soft the first time I tried it. I loved it.

hello beautyqueen26, i have been using home-made things since so many years as i don't use commercial products.i don't think any beauty treatments as strange as i am very much fond of pampering myself using such things, mostly home-made products.so even if you give me the strangest thing and say,if you put it up on your skin it will make it look good,i will definitely do that without hesitation.lol. now i am going to share my beauty treatment with you.i think it will sound strange to you but not for me.for my skin i put on a mixture of oatmeal, yoghurt and lemon juice.sometimes i try out a mud mask or a mixture of oatmeal with honey.i use rose water as a toner. for my hair i apply plain yoghurt to it.it helps me get rid of dandruff.if its worse sometimes i put apple cider vinegar. now that would sound weird to you.lol.but i do those regularly and they are a part of my beauty regimen.till now i haven't experienced any bad reactions.but yeah like you i also tried tomatoes and they gave me a nice outbreak that was not only massive but stayed a long time also and left a big sized blemish.hehehehehe:).....i had to work hard to get rid of that.

I have tried all sorts of hommade face masque recipies, usually contaning eggs or oatmeal or something. But the wierdest thing I have ever HEARD of was I once heard someone say that if you pee on a facecloth and then wash your face with your pee that it will cure acne. Doesn't sound right to me....sounds like a good way to get a nasty skin infection....but that was what I heard.
