I'm just curious, are you doing your part to help save our planet? What are you do you wish you could do? And do you have any tips or hints?Since I have the opportunity, I'm recycling. When I'm at home, I don't have the opportunity to do so, simply because recycling places in our area just don't exist. If we want to recycle, we have to drive several hours out of our way, because our towns just do not want to offer it. I've also gotten into the habit of not using lights until I really need them, taking shorter showers, riding with other people whenever something needs to be done, that sort of thing. I want to changed from regular lightbulbs, to CFL bulbs whenever I get the money and can convince members of my household that it's really a better idea. I also spend my time at www.care2.com and clicking their races for free, to help save animal habitats, children, and even remove some carbon emissions from the air every day, for free. It's all paid for by site sponsers which is great, It means you can do a lot without having a lot. So, what about you?

Years ago when the whole "save the environment" thing started I vowed never to use aerosol anything any more and I would say I haven't for a good 30 years. I do a lot of things like not littering, saving plastic bags and contributing to a lot of good environmental causes.

I've started saving plastic bags as well. We use them for trash bags actually and other things so we're not buying bags if we don't need too. If we ever get an excess, I'm taking them to the store to recycle.

Gee, I never knew how much I take it for granted here, that where I live they have regular pick ups for the recyclable items...in the garbage area of the building I live in there is a gigantic garbage bin just for the plastic bottles and such. I do that same thing with lights...When my mother was alive we used to have literally every single light on just about 24 hours a day, but that was because her vision was so poor, she needed the lights..and the electric bill was nearly a hundred a month because of that! Now with her gone I practically sit in the dark..LOL..Just have the one light on near my computer, and maybe the bedroom one (at night only), but that's it...and my bill dropped to only $30 a month...big difference..no? I used to belong to care2 but deleted my account...I got annoyed with the tons of emails I was getting from the groups I joined, and even though I changed the email preferences I was still getting them...I mean it was way too many! I even emailed the contact care2 to tell them about this but they didn't help..shame I liked that place

That's strange. I've managed to stop all the emails care2 sends. I'm not sure how I did it myself but I did.

We are lucky where we live as our local council encourages recycling and all our paper, bottles, glass is collected and recycled, so we sort out all our rubbish each fortnight to be collected. We also like to grow our own vegetables and any food waste goes into the compost bin to make good manure for the garden. We also use cost effective bulbs and we always turn lights off, carrier bags we also recycle.
