hy·poc·ri·sy –noun, plural -sies. 1. a pretense of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles, etc., that one does not really possess

Seems like this shows up everywhere no?

Do you ever run into this where people tell you to do one thing but dont do it themselves.. I get so discouraged when people I respect..whether it be church people or other..tell you this is the way things should be done and dont do it.. Hogwash!

I think it is a very normal thing for people to be hypocrites. I also think the only way to really deal with it is to let it go over your head and ignore it. I mean, think about it. Parents could yell at their kids to "mind their manners" and then run into someone and not even say excuse me. That's pretty hypocritical isn't it? Telling your kid to do one thing and not doing it yourself? Religion and Politics bring out a lot of Hypocrasy, which is why I try not to involve myself in those conversations. Yeah, I think the best you can do is ignore it, people don't usually admit they are hypocrites, but pretty much everyone is.

I have to disagree on one part..I dont think it's normal to be hyprocrites.. I think most people in general have it in mind to be what they appear to be inside and out..There are a few who like the name but will not walk the walk;)

I am not talking about whether in life we have done it..you have to really try hard to be a hyprocrite..People who pretend to be people of prayer, for example, then tear others apart and gossip behind their backs!

What I meant by normal is that I don't think there is a soul on earth who hasn't said or done something hypocritical at least once in their life without realizing they've done it. Whether they walk the walk or talk the talk or think they don't walk the walk or talk the talk...everyone's done it once in their life, except maybe infants.

It irritates me no end when people do that. I don't understand why people cannot practise what they preach. Or else don't talk about it. I know quite a few people who are like that and it really is a pain being around them. If it's someone close to me, I point it out. It has happened once or twice that the person didn't even realize what they were doing and they immediately apologized. I thought that was really nice of them. But some others have argued and tried to justify themselves which I felt was wrong. I wish they would have been silent.

Ah one thing people do not like; and that is being told they are hyprocrites..Calling someone that is like sticking them with a stick-pin. They jump and scream and smoke comes out their ears..but despite it all hyprocrites are hyprocrites.. no matter how much they try to hide it..so superficial!

The only thing you can do is ignore them. :) You have to do what you know is right and not worry about what others are doing. I understand your frustration though. I hate hypocrites too.

Sometimes it is a real test for me and I pray so hard that I dont fall into this..IT really irks me though when people tell you not to do something and then do it themselves.
