Sticking to the recipe

When I cook I sometimes change things in the recipe. Sometimes its ingrediants and sometimes its the measurements of things. Usually it works out fine. Do you change things in recipes or do you stick to what's in the book?

I almost always change the recipe, because I have a few food allergies and there's almost always something I can't have, so I have to substitute something else for it. That doesn't bother me, because I generally like my substitution better anyway.

I almost always make adjustments on recipes. Either because I do want more of a particular ingredient, or because I'm lacking an ingredient and I have to use a substitute. I get some pretty cool results in either case, for the most part.

I hardly ever use a recipe anyway, but when I do, if it's something I'm totally unfamiliar with, I'll follow it to the "T," but the second time I make it to suit myself. Which means yes, I do change things in recipes. :)

I rarely even use recipes. Usually, I just add what I choose, and season as I choose, and come up with very interesting, usually tasty meals. My daughter loves my cooking, as did my daughter's father, when he was home. When I do use a recipe, I rarely measure things out, I just add however much I think it needs, and also, I do add and subtract ingredients and such......lol

I do the same, like I suggested one or two ingredients if I don't have the ones listed. Or I compare two or three kinds of recipes and choose which one I think is better. Or else I try again with some variations till I get the best result.

If it's a casserole or something like that I may change the recipe a little but in baking I stick to what the recipe says.
