What is the best way to celebrate Easter in Crete?

Hi all, I have already booked my holidays for Crete next year and will be there over the Greek Orthodox Easter celebrations. Do you have any advice on where I should try and get to to experience the real celebrations, I would love to go the village church and see the mass but is this frowned upon as I am not of the religion? I have heard the Greeks/Cretans really know how to celebrate and this is their biggest religious festival and I can't wait to see it for myself. All the best, J.
