What is it with the Conspiracy Theorists?

I'm serious. I understand sometimes things are underhanded and sometimes things may look a little fishy but it seems like people are blowing everything way too far out of context. I mean there are conspiracy theories out about Mary Magdellen, and 9-11, and Roswell etc.... it's silly!!!! My opinion is that things happen but why do some people sit and dwell on things and try to blame people??? Why does there ahve to be a "Mr. Bigg"? Do you think it's silly too or are you a hardcore believer in something being fishy? If you are a believer, why do you beleive and what do you believe?

I have been interested in UFOs since Junior High School and in recent years have been able to talk to people high up in the world of science and physics. I expected them to make fun of the subject, but instead they shocked me by saying that they believed in UFOs and a couple of them had even been abducted! These are not crazy or unreliable people. In fact, most are pillar-of-the-community types! They ALL confirm that the government has lied consistently over the years. When I heard all that, I asked myself "what else have they lied about?" This does NOT mean that everything involves a huge conspiracy. Two people can make a conspiracy, and one can get involved by not being aware of it. How? Suppose someone casually told Lee Harvey Oswald something about President Kennedy's route in Dallas the day he was shot? If they didn't know what Oswald had planned to do, they certainly couldn't be part of a conspiracy! That's just a couple examples. And we have to remember that there are things kept quiet because they might upset lots of ordinary folks.

The world of ufology has been a subject matter that has interested me for sometime now. I look at this subject in many different ways. I read a great deal about the subject on both sides - those who believe and the skeptics. I can say this both sides have good points, yet, I think that the skeptics are not truly non-believers. I think they are looking for the true evidence, which in my opinion is out there. One of the reasons why all levels of society are having a problem with the conspiracy theorists is because they make a good argument and want to do everything about ufos covered up because of the threat the news would bring to the religious community around the globe as well as the governments who have actively been doing all they can to cover up the alien and ufo material. What is interesting however is that there are numerous religious leaders who do believe that ufos exist, but most of them look at the subject more in the light of the fact that they are demonic in nature. They believe that ufos are delivered to earth by the devil and this is the true nature of the craft and their occupants. Most religious leaders will not come fully out to discuss their beliefs, only publish articles about them and print them in little known publications. In regards to other conspiracies like 9-11 and the assassination of President Kennedy are foolish in my mind. I think the conspiracy theories make great movies and books and that is about it.

Ok, but if aliens exist then why haven't they shown themselves or blown us up, sucked our brains out, shook our hands, etc..... I mean if they are intelligent enough to invent ships then why come here fly around a bit and then fly away?

These things have been around for eons. way back as far as nero cesar. People seem to need to look for an alternative explaination other than the "official" one. There is a great deal of mistrust in the establishment so it becomes very easy to believe in a cover up or elaborate plan by said establisment. People who subscribe to thee things are quite adhered toi them and no matter how much evidence you put up, they will believe nothing else will just tell you that you are blindn have your head in the sand or are being brainwashed, or wosrt case scenario, part of the plot yourself.

Honestly, what got me thinking of this rubbish was because I cam across a web site that screams that 9-11 was done by G. Bush. Hun, you know I don't really like Bush BUT I can't ever see him committing such an atrocious act upon his fellow citizens! I can't believe how people rather than mourning and showing proper respect are still *itching and pointing fingers about it. It happened it was horrible and I hope it never happens again to any citizens of any country but there are people that just won't SHUT UP!!! Ok, well i guess i went off on a bit of a tangence there, sorry... but you get my point right? I think it's horrible!

The reason that people are blowing things out of proportion right now is because of the age that we live in. Things seem a little bleak.

I used to think about things never happens in real stage. But it is just wondering. It may be not and may be true. Client form other space, living clients outside planet. I saw on movie.

I think the a big insentive for conspiracy theorists to public their ideas is the money they can earn from it. Take Michael Moore for example, often in his films he tells us how rediculously rich the rich are getting. But he doesn't tell us this for free, people still have to buy his films and books and so on and I bet he's not so willing to declare how much he really makes. This sort of thing makes me less likely to beleive what he or other conspiracy theorists are saying. I don't ignore everything he says. But he's branded himself and for someone so anti-capitalist he seems to know very well how to play the game.

LOL I have to agree. You have to see Sicko! It's a bit of a tear jerker at one point where he has these Cuban Fire Fighters standing to attention for the New York Fire fighters. I won't say anymore... incase I spoil it for you. :D Apart from!... The bit where he talks about our wonderful NHS.. he basically picked the best hospital in England. Although I am pleased with our NHS, its great but not majical. He would have everyone believe they cure AIDs.

Michael Moore.... I bought Farenheit 911 yes I bought it. Do you want to know something? He is one heck of a truly amazing story teller. He should definitely go into writing TV shows. and I'm not making a joke. He put that movie together wonderfully so that by the end of the film everyone is left scratching their head going "hmmmmmm maybe he is right..." Michael Moore is so good with stories I have to give him a huge Kudos, if he had a fictional series I bet he would have readers wrapped around his pinky like JK Rawlings (author of Harry Potter) does.

The worse part about conspiracy theorists is that they believe so much what they say... that they are able to convince other people. It is really up to the people to compare the theorists facts with the real facts and make up your own mind. Too many people believe everything they read without doing their own research. Conspiracy theorists seem to forget that each major conspiracy involves keeping hundred and sometimes thousand of people silent. One of the most outrageous conspiracy theory was to claim that we never went to the moon. That it was all staged. This is mind boggling as the whole world was watching... including our ennemies (at the time), Russia and China. It would have required to keep ten of thousand of people silent. And after almost 40 years... not one of them has come forward to say it was fake. I am not saying that there are no conspiracies. There are plenty of them. They are usually at very high level amongst powerful men... but usually it is something which they keep amongst their own circle to prevent leaks... and they keep it to a minimum like half a dozen people. We can sometime figure out that something is wrong... but they cover their tracks... and unless we can come up with some hard evidences... it becomes a conspiracy theory.

Oh I know - some of them can be quite funny but others are just plain stupid. The celebrity deaths ones are usually the worst. The whole Elvis thing is bizarre and of course there's Princess Diana. As for the 9/11 conspiracy I've seen a couple of websites about that and, much as I think Bush is a disgrace, even I don't believe all that stuff. I agree there are some unanswered questions and things that seem odd but I just don't buy into all that stuff about it. The problem with conspiracy theorists is that they ignore one of the basic facts of human existence - people talk! Tell half a dozen people a secret and it's guaranteed at least one of them is going to blab to someone.

I agree with you it makes me mad, I have seen some people get so hiped up about things that it just has to be the truth, especially the ones who say Elvis is still alive, for heavens sake famous people die just like the rest of us...

People like conspiracy theories because it makes them feel special. It makes them feel like they found something secret (even though they found this "proof" on the internet from someone else). It makes them pretentious and its more fun to live in the dramatic world of movie plots than to accept Occam's Razor that the simplest answer is the best answer.

Well, sometimes they turn out to be true. I'd rather people be silly and always question things, rather than no one question anything at all. I'm not a conspiracy theorist myself. I do however keep my eyes and ears open and wait for whatever truth wants to fly my way. Even if it's from some reputed loony. We can't control how we get the truth, all we can do is be thankful when we get it.

I love conspiracy theories, but I am a great fan of speaking your mind before your head explodes. Conspiracy theories show how the human mind is naturally inquisitive. Plus you never know, maybe there is some truths behind some of the theories. Just because the news and papers etc are telling you this happened in this way, do you have to 100% believe it? I am not "a hardcore believer" but I do think you can not disregard everything.
