Okay doesn't sound like a big deal but in over the last 11 and a half years he has never been without a moustache. This is the first time he has done it since I've known him. (It makes him look 10 years younger) He turned 40 a month ago. Could this be the first signs of a mid-life crisis? Should I be worried about being traded in for a younger model? LOL Though I am 9 years younger than him already HEHE Have any of you gone through a mid-life crisis or experienced a partner that has?

Hi vicki2876! When my Ex turned 30 the first thing he did was shave his mustache and his goat tee. He has had air on his face since he was 19. It was so weird seeing him without any hair on his face he looked like a completely different person. It tok awhile to use to he did look younger.

My hubby turned 40 in July and we already had a few episodes of "mid-life crisis" like behavior. Nothing major though. My husband also wears a moustache, but I do talk him into shaving it off every once in awhile.

The funny thing was that early on into the relationship I asked him to shave it just to see what he would look like and he was very stubborn and said he never ever would. So I totally let it go and was totally fine with the stache. Then out of the blue gone... Weird.

Unless he is doing other things not his normal self I wouldn't worry too much. My husband had a moustache for about 9 years per my request and decided to shave it for awhile. I can't remember what the reason was. He grew it back later for several more years but the first time he shaved it our daughter was four and had never seen her daddy without a moustache. She was asleep when he shaved it off that morning and went off to work. He came home and she would have nothing to do with him for a good hour. Did not recongnize him though his voice was the same. She insisted that man stole her daddy's car, clothes etc. Finally she was convinced it really was her daddy and looked for his moustache asking him where he put it. She asked him if it was in his pocket and fished in the pocket to find it. He told her no he shaved it off. Well he grew it back about two weeks later because she just had trouble with his having it off. He finally shaved and kept it off about four years ago now and it did take years off him. He looked nice. I miss the moustache but the salt and pepper look was making him look a lot older than he is.

You have given me an idea, vicki2876. My wife I think is going through with what you are feeling right now. She is always thinking how young looking I am even though I am older than her. In fact I am now planning of wearing a pair of eye glasses to look more matured. Now that you have come up with this post, I think I might just as well sport a moustache to compliment the eyeglasses I am thinking of having. Cheers!

HEHE,I have the same situation with your husband. I feel troublesome if I shaved everyday, so I alway leave it there except that I have to meet someone important or attend some important occasion. Every time I shaved my moustache my girlfriend will say that it make me look 20 years younger(haha). I think it a good thing, if I shaved everyday, she may not feel I'm so young:) Also, you should not worry about the crisis. my girl freind is only two years younger than me, but I don't think that is a problem. All will be Ok if two people love each other.

I think your right about that shaving everyday I would be so used to it that the effect of looking younger wouldn't be there. If I get a surprise like this every now and then that would be good. Hope I don't have to wait another 11 years. HEHE We are very happy together so I am not going to be stalking him at work yet to check out the receptionist yet... HEHE

Oh I know - when you're used to seeing people a certain way and then they suddenly change it takes some getting used to. It's amazing what a difference a moustache or beard can make to someone's face. It could be the signs of a mid-life crisis but there again he might just have fancied a change. I know when I turned 40 I started changing all kinds of things including my appearance. It wasn't really a mid-life crisis (I don't think!) but I just realised I was getting older and stuck in a bit of a rut so it was time to have some fun I guess LOL! My ex went through a bit of a mid-life crisis (that's not why he's an ex) and it was pretty funny to watch. He started wearing slogan t-shirts and beanie hats and bought a motorbike. Sometimes I think men having a harder time with getting older than women do.

I know how you feel! My husband shaved his face and i hate it. He looks so much younger. I doubt its a sign of a mid life crisis. Did he say anything to make you think that? I dont think you have anything to worry about yet.

This isn't about my husband, as I don't have one... but still. When I was 11 my dad shaved his facial hair off. I wouldn't talk to him for a week. My entire life I'd only known my father with a beard and mustache and it was just so weird to see him without. He had done it for a job too, because he worked in a jail and men weren't allowed to have facial hair. When he quit he grew facial hair back and it wasn't nearly as big of a deal as the first time he shaved it off though. Its amazing how much facial hair can change someones look.

I shaved off my beard and my fiance said the same exact thing. Maybe it is a trend among women. Anyway, I would say that guys tire of having to trim the hair so that's why we shave.

This is not one of mid-life crises. It happens with every man. Your husband has figured to have a change in his outlook. He may also have changed something in his outfit which you might not have noticed yet. For 10 to 11 years he was with moustache and now clean shaved.

I understand that. I am so used to a stache that I liked him that way but he is cute without it. Shocked is the main thing though. HEHE Thanks Vicki
