Do not believe all the hype about the medication Avandia

I am a 37-year-old female who has been taking Avandia for my diabetes since I was diagnosed in September 2005. I have had no side effects whatsoever, and my blood sugars have been very well-controlled. I recently saw a cardiologist (for a consult prior to surgery), and she recommended that I stop taking Avandia and switch to another diabetes medication. I checked with my primary doctor, who started me on Actos. I did not want to switch from the Avandia, as it was well-tolerable and controlled my sugars very well. But I did the right thing and switched to the Actos. I feel no different with no side effects, and my sugars are still well-controlled.
