Last Friday I got to go fishing and we had a great trip. Hubby & I both caught our limit on Redfish and Black Drum. The limit in our area is a total of 4 redfish each, with only one being over 28 inches. For Black Drum, the limit is 5 each and they don't have a size restriction. Believe it or not, all 18 of these fish (pic included) were caught using gold spoon lures and one pound of dead shrimp. Our total weight was 110 pounds of fish! I am SOOOOO glad I didn't have to clean them! ps. The biggest redfish was mine & the smallest black drum (far left) was hubby's, lol. :D

That is quite a catch you have there. With the picture to back it up, you have bragging right for years to come.

A hundred and ten pounds of fish! That should keep you fed for awhile... So, who DID have to clean them?

They have a fish cleaner at the docks. They charge per 45 cents per pound to fillet them with a minimum $5 charge. The last time we went, we only caught 2 fish so hubby didn't mind cleaning them. 18 big fish were a little more than he wanted to deal with on our birthday trip, lol. When I got home I packaged tham into decent sized portions and figure we'll have at least 20 meals involving these yummy fish.

Cool fish! If we catch a small amount of fish, I don't mind scaling them if I have to but hubby usually does all the cleaning. I don't cut up chicken either. Hubby told me to quit buying them whole if I wasn't going to cut them up. So now chicken costs more too, now that he won't cut them up for me anymore. :P

So you paid about $50 to have them cleaned for you... guess you REALLY don't like doing it yourself.

Yes, they are so very fun to catch and can put up quiet a fight. The redfish is my preferred fish for consumption of them all.
