Did you join the "mylot forum"? Will you protest because they have rights?

I admit I did join this site but only because I was curious. None of what I read about the site impressed me from the beginning. I'm pretty sure I can make more than $2 for 100 postings here on mylot and I definitely don't get into referrals which is basically the way to make money there. I also have my own places where I do online shopping so that was no big thing for me. Now they are saying that mylot.com is trying to shut them down because of trade mark rights. I would think anyone planning to to start a web site they would be aware of legal things like that (here's where my star rating is going to go down the drain!). From the first words I read on that site I got the feeling that it wasn't being run by a professional. I am willing to bet that the owner of the site comes up with something to start another site just like it but now going by the rules. My personal opinion is that mylot.com is THE best site on the internet and I am a member of a lot of them believe me. Will you protest because that site is being shut down? If you do where do you think it will get you?

The site that is shutting down in mylotforum.com...definitely not mylot.com. The owner is asking members to say bad things about mylot and I didn't want to see that happen.

From what I see they have fixed the copyright problem and changed their name a little bit so I guess they will be in business....for a short time anyway. Mylot.com will NEVER shut down because it's a quality site.

No i havent joined this site and i dont plan to. But i had never heard of this site before i read this post. This site is probably just trying to pull the mylot members away. If mylot is such a bad website then why are there so many members? I mean look at how many new discussions are posted here daily. I love being a member of mylot. Its a good place to come to vent and help others out when they have problems. If mylot.com is trying to shut down this other website then good for them. Its no ones fault but their own.

Unfortunately it looks like the other site found a way around the name. I'm sure it's not going to make it knowing what the pay rate is for them. mylot.com is definitely the best.

From what I had heard about it, I always just sort of assumed it was started by some person who had been banned by mylot and was mad about it. There have been several of those forums, and it doesn't surprise me that one finally sprang up that actually paid. *shrugs* I'm not the slightest bit concerned about it, but I suppose it's sad for people who wasted their time there trying to make money instead of just sticking with the real thing. For me, I think I'll be sticking with the real mylot since they've paid me every month since I joined, and I have a lot of friends here.

Unfortunately sites like that are started by disgruntled ex mylotters. I had an idea from the beginning that it wouldn't work out.

I really don't have any idea baout mylotforum until now, I thought there was only one mylot and that is this site which thank God is not shutting down of course.. I agree with other respondents who said maybe the people who got banned and got really mad about mylot are the very people who started that forum.. and yes, I agree with you 100% that anyone who plans to build a website should learn all about legalities etc..

I hadn't heard of them but you do have to be careful of a site that will use the same name as another one as you do have to consider the motive for them doing this. There are other names they could have chosen, people might know about trade mark rights but that doesn't mean they are going to abide by them.

To me if someone has to use the name of another site their not very creative.

I honestly don't have a clue about the site you mentioned, ctry. This is the first I've heard of it. Is it affiliated in any way with myLot? I usually stay away from sites that require a lot of referrals anyway since I only know a few people online.

There is definitely no affilitation with mylot.com and the OTHER site. I'm sure it was people from here who couldn't abide by mylot guidelines that started it.

I don't know. This is the first I had heard of it. It does sound like the mylotforum is trying to take advantage of the popularity of mylot, and there are probably legal issues with this.

I have never joined or heard of that site. I wonder why they would take the mylot name. They should come up with their own idea for a site and then make money from it. These people kind of make me sick. Well I hope they change their name.. otherwise they might get shut down.
