Why do u think that way dear?? It sounds really strange to me.. Cell phones are really very much money efficient.. In today's world, calls thru cellphones are much cheaper than what they are thru landlines or any other means.. So, it makes me wonder why u think that way... Pls try explaining it to me...

I think the use of a prepaid cell phone will be good for emergency use.If you're talking about the ones where you buy the minutes.Far as chitchatting I would burn all my minutes up so it would be a waste.

Whether prepaid cellphones save you or cost you money largely depends on the individual's use of the mobile phone. If in case it will be used on a daily and regular basis, then a prepaid call and text card worth three hundred or five hundred pesos (or US $6 to $10) will be utilized only for a short time; maybe barely a week. Then clearly, this will be a waste of money. But if you're not going to use it daily; say you use the text messaging function for only a few times within a day and you make one or two short calls only, it would be wiser to use prepaid option.
To sum it up, I believe that it really depends on the person who needs and uses it. It is adviseable to compare postpaid and prepaid rates before choosing the wisest option.
I guess some people won't be able to understand why you're asking whether these are waste of money because at some point, there are differences of usage and rates with other countries. I know of one difference in cellphone usage which is that in certain countries, it is cheaper when one makes the call rather than if he receives the call.
