I am so excited about the new television season starting next week. I haven't been this excited about t.v. in a long time. But the only station I can get is NBC, I have direct tv and they won't show the networks, even though I've complained to them. Anyway, Heroes is coming on and several new shows I can't wait. Anyone else have any new shows to recommend?

Why can't you get regular network Television on your direct tv? That's odd. Can't you unplug the direct tv and play standard tv or something. I have direct tv and I have all local channels as that's included in any standard package. weird.
I'm pretty excited about old shows returning. There are a few new shows I'm looking forward to. On NBC, there is ...Heroes, Chuck, 30 rock, my name is earl, law and order SVU... thats about it.

I don't know why we don't get the local channels, our local tv station did a commentary on it recently and I contacted directv and told them what we were asked to, and that was that the local station had given permission years ago to broadcast, but directv says they don't have the permission. I can get NBC b/c the local station is about 2 miles down the road from us. But unless we get a better outside antenna, we don't get much else that is worth watching. My daughter who has directv in another town can get some things we don't, so I guess it's all in where you live. Thanks for sharing with me.

My hubby said that b/c we can get the local channels by antenna that directv doesn't offer them. It's weird, but I think I may give directv a call and find out if they have changed that ruling since we first became a customer several years ago. I can ABC Family, but it's mostly reruns. We can't get Smallville, only the reruns.

I'm afraid I don't understand why you pay for a service that is so limited. You would would be better off with just a TV and rabbit ears. Most of my favorite shows are on other networks and there aren't really that many new ones that have grabbed my attention. About the only one is not one you can get if you keep your present service and that is "Big Shots" on ABC mainly because Peyton List is on it in a supporting role.

We get a lot of good programs with directv, my hubby gets a LOT of discovery channels and we get a lot of different networks, we just don't get the local ones, ABC, NBC or CBS. If we had cable we could, but we will never have cable where we live, too rural.

Since you only get NBC I'd recommend the new comedy Chuck. It doesn't premiere this week, but early word is that Chuck and the ABC comedy Samantha Who? will be the comedies to get picked up for a whole season. And goodness knows we could use some actually funny comedies.
