I just watched the news this morning and it featured a singer that sung the national anthem wrong. It's Christian Bautista singing during a boxing match with one Filipino contender. He was really embarrassed. God, who would not be? It was on international TV. But we should not be laughing at him. He didn't mean to forget the lyrics. Maybe he was just nervous. In fact most of us do forget and most of us can't sing our national anthem well with correct lyrics. I just think that maybe we have taken for granted singing the national anthem. we have been thought about this since we started pre school. What is your stand on this?

i have not seen it yet, but i'll try to look it up in youtube... hmmm... i doubt christian ever sing the national anthem before that, i mean not an artist but as a filipino... i agree with one poster that maybe we wasnt singing from his heart... i dont know, but the national anthem, like the national flag, is so sacred to me as filipino... that is something we can't afford to make mistake...

now i've seen it... i have to give him credit that he sang with the right tempo and tune, unlike the other singers, they sometimes change the tune...

hi friend, If anybody sing national anthom in a wrong manner or way, then this is very rediculous. If he doesn't know details about national anthom then he must not sing the national anthom. thanks.

i am pretty sure that the guy who sang the anthem truly knew the lyrics or lines, but there could be personal reasons why he failed to deliver the lines correctly. he already asked an apology to the public and stated his personal reason and i believe him. it was not meant to give shame to any of his countrymen. in the first place, nobody is perfect.

well, may be he is just nervous... i think everybody experience that... especially when he has to sing in front of a lot of people... it happens sometimes to me as well when i am still studying and have to do a presentation... suddenly, i just forgotten what i have to say even though i had prepared well in advance... we are just humans and humans are not perfect... things do happens... as long as he apologises, i think it is alright...

Hi there. I watched a similar thing happen on television, where the New Zealand basketball team played another international team and the singer didnt know our anthem and made her own words up, she had forgotten them and one of our players went over and sang it with her, never seen anything like it, quiet funny lol...

I have just watched that news this evening. Haven't really watched or heard how he sang it. But I know it's embarassing especially if was on international tv. But singers are human too. They are still not perfect. And humans do make mistakes. It could be that he was just so nervous. So, if I were Christian Bautista, i'll just move on and we'll just take it as a lesson.

I agree we shouldn't make fun of him. You know that takes a lot of guts to even attempt most of us wouldn't do it. there is a lot of pressure to get it right, and I can see how you could get mixed up because you are trying so hard... Definately give him a break! We are all human we all screw up some time or another!!

That's really embarrasing, to know that he's a professional singer and a filipino is the worst thing he did. I think he's only singing it according to what the melody is and is not singing with his heart, my niece is better than him in singing that song. Funny, yet irritating at the same time..

I am sorry I have never heard the the national anthem for the Philippines. Is it hard to sing. I know the U.s. national anthem is.I think there are only a few Americans that sing it properly. To tell the truth, I don't like the national anthem because it is so hard to sing. The only time I like hearing it is during the Olympics.Fortunately, there are a few patriotic songs that you can sing instead. America The Beautiful is my favorite. It is easy to sing and it describes the country well. And it has a beautiful melody. My fellow Americans that are atheists won't like it because it mentions G-d, that is its only flaw.

The incident was not meant to give disgrace to the Filipino people. There could be some personal reasons why Christian Bautista forgot the lines of the national anthem. It might be a funny thing that Christian B. must have been dazed and confused because of the current controversies our country is facing these days. It seems everyone is also affected and confused because of the latest 'wishy washy' events in our country to the extent that we forget to sing appropriately and heartily our anthem. This consideration may be true.

He was really embarrased. I wacth him in the news last time, and he said he was sorry for what happen. According to him, days before that happen, he's very busy with his work, and tired at the same time. I do believe him. Christian is very professional singer. Anyway thing is, he apologizes and things do happen. :)
