Do you like travelling on your own or through travelling agent?

Hi! I'd like to travel on my own. But you know the trend is that people in our country prefer to travel through the travelling agent. They don't bother to how to go to the place and what they should do during the tour. Because a tour guide will do this for you. You needn't worry about anything. However, the charging is too much. sometimes the service is not good. So I prefer travelling on my own. If you like it, just tell me.

I would love to travel on my own but it takes quite a lot of effort to do researching as far as I know. Besides, I'm not a good navigator and tends to get lost. But I would love to travel with a group of friends who like backpacking.

Hi! I'm glad that you like traveling on your own. If you are afraid of getting lost, just don't worry. You had better travel with your friends and family. that's OK. wish you good luck!

I always make my own travel arrangements. Im a tent traveler by heart, as I think its a lot more fun just to have in mind, I am going to north italy and what ever looks great along the way I can use. Taking the car and traveling the 2k kilometers also gives me the option to take a day or two out while traveling to see interesting sites along the journey, as well as the option to move on from where I had decided in case it didnt live up to what I expected. Using travel agents restricts me too much for me to be happy with it.

We plan our own vacations. Some of our relatives use travel agents, but they do add to the cost, and we don't think it's quite necessary for us - we're just going on trips to visit friends and maybe see some tourist attractions.

Definitely the cost part is very important. I agree that the travel agents charge you a lot - but then they are definitely saving you a lot of time and energy. And also there are certain tours which will be best you go through a travel agent. But if you really have the time and patience to plan your own holiday - there is nothing much better than that!!

I prefer to travel on my own. I've found that if you go through a travel agent or use a tour guide, you get a limited experience. They only show what's popular. If you're with a group, you're also limited on how much time you can spend at a place. If the group is scheduled to move on, you have to go or be left behind. I'd much rather wander around on my own. Whenever I travel, I go online and look through books to decide what I want to see. Then I go see what I want for as long as I want. If I want to stay somewhere all day, it isn't a problem.

Of course I like to travel on my own. Travel agency always set a very tight schedule and you have to stick to it. What if I don't like some of the places and want to go somewhere else, or I just want to take a rest in the hotel? No way, you'll have to follow their timetable.

I too like to travel by myself and so does my family. Planning a trip is itself an excitement and just going to the travel agent and giving money in lieu of services, doesn’t come anywhere near to this. Also whenever we travel, we like to do it in our own way and at our own pace. Also there are some place which we may not like to visit but which the travel agent will definitely throw in. we may want to try the local cuisine but the travel agent will have a fixed menu so we cant go out and eat. we may want to try the local modes of transport but then again our hands are tied. We may want to laze around a whole day or just sit and enjoy the evening but the packed schedule of the travel agent will not allow us this luxury. So we always make our own arrangements.

I always like traveling by myself. I don't like following the travelling agent because I need more freedom. I like to wake up whenever I like and visit anywhere I want. I can make my own decision.

Both my wife and I love travelling and going on holidays (who doesn't, right?). We travel on holidays every year, for many years now. In the early years of our travel, we will usually book conducted tours because we were not familiar with making our own arrangements. But ever since we started embarking on our free & easy holidays more than ten years ago, we have not looked back and have gone on many trips on our own. There's a lot of satisfaction in planning your own holiday. I am usually the travel planner and tour leader. I am fairly good at topography. I will do my research on the interesting sights and activities of the countries we intend to visit, and plan the entire driving route including what we will do, where we will visit each day and where we will stay for the night based on our likes and dislikes. Then I will make all the necessary bookings with the agents, both locally and through the internet. I will have all these worked out even before we fly to our holiday destination. Things are pretty organized this way, and we don't lose time figuring out what to do, where to go, etc. when we arrive at our destination. We have found this to be very satisfying and pleasurable, because the trip is very flexible and we can tailor-make it to suit our time and budget. The best part is that we can stop by at any place we fancy such as to see waterfalls, something conducted travel can never give you usually.

I love traveling and prefer to do it on my own with help of friends.I love the independence I get when i travel alone,I get to explore places on my own and get to know new people. And it does help that I have a friend who owns a travel agency,I book my hotels and taxis through him, which reduces the rates and also ensures good service.

Hi! It's the best when you travel with the help of your friends. You are very lucky that you have a friend who owns a travel agency.

Ever since I was a little girl I have had a passion for traveling to see the world. When I graduated from school I became a nurse, got married, and raised a family. This past year due to some health issue I had to leave my job of 18 years and stay home. I went online in search of a job I could do to help support my hubbys income. This past year I became a travel agent. I love booking travel for others. I give them brochures and also links to websites for them to search and see where they would like to go and I only book the trips as extensis as they want. My clients have never paid me. I receive my money from the supplier. Often times I can give better deals than what you find on the net and today there is alot of website that will scam you and leave you hanging with no customer service. I love my job and i enjoy seeing the vacation through the eyes of my client when they return.

Hi taskata10, I have traveled on my own when going to places where I have friends, or people that I know, as they'll give me the best places to stay at :) If I have to go to places that I dont know anybody, than I'll research all the options online, and try to find the best deal through a traveller agent online, and opt mostly for fullpension which is the best deal, and you spend only when you go out of the resort. Hi! Thanks for your respond. It's a good idea that you have traveled to some places where you have friends. If you travel to a strange place, through a travel agent is a good choice. finding the best option online is an easy and practical way. Have fun.

Personally I like to travel on my own, it's more flexible this way. You don't have to go to places that are not interesting to you, don't have to wake up early and things like that. But if you can find travel packages that combined both options will be better, something like 2 days guided tour + 1 day on your own. Sometimes when you first came into a country, a guided tour can help you to familiarize with local customs, surroundings etc. Then on the last day, you can go out on your own revisiting place you really want to go or go shopping.

I agree total!! its more fun to *discover* things urself enjoying the Relaxing day on UR own schedule!! WE both have schedules that pretty much get run by someone else day in and day out -- so its nice to just travel and do our own thing -- we will plan things we want to do and see and get to them on our time!! not a tour guides time! we did however take a tour guide up when going to some local caves - only because since seeing *The Decent* our little one was INSISTANT on it! :)XX lol

since I am a travel agent I book my own trips for my family. If you are not an agent I suggest going thru an agent since they are the experts
