I had been in this situation when my own relatives and friends introduces some other. Even I forget their faces too. Later I may not recognise them but they may recognise me and start talking to me. Also there are some people faces I do remeber but not their names. I talk to them in between if some one whom I know comes I find it bit difficult to introduce them as I had forgotten their names even though we are talking so closely. Still now I am started to try not to forget those names.

If you want fast treatment, buy one "SALT LAMP" and in your country very cheap. I always sleep with SALT LAMP...I'm talking fact and not a theory. In Malaysia it cost me MYR35.00 = USD10. But in USA its selling price is USD100, the same lamp.

Indeed, that is my problem too. Names of people. Especially those newly introduced ones. Faces no problem, but with names ? Introduce me to your friend and by the time the introduction and a brief chat winds up, you can be sure I will forget your friend's name. Lately however, I have minimized this name forgetting problem by means of relationship. I relate the name of a new friend to something or someone I knew very well. Like a Miss Cleo to 'Cleopatra', a Mr Penilla to a pen and a our local name for a typewriter which is 'makenilla'. This method of name recall is quite easy to do and it sure helps to preclude embarrassing moments when you forget the name of a newly introduced friend.

Hi, That is another strategy of remeber names that too may be tried by those who forget names. Another one is to sleep with the right side of the head kept on the pillow suggest by Mr.Michael. May be these would help those forget names.

That also happens to me. I can't easily remember new acquaintances people. Sometimes, some people will smile at me but I will not smile them because I am not sure if I really met them. Sometimes they look familiar. I think I have to practice remembering new meet people.

You are not the only person, I think. It is the same with me. I also easily forget people's name. I just don't know why. It makes me feel so embarrassing when this happens to me. I wish I could remember well as always. I am a forgetful man. hehe.

The problem is, your short term memory can only hold around 7 elements, and it only holds the information for a very limited time (less than 30 seconds). The information will not go into your long term memory by it self. It needs to be coded into your memory. If you simply hear the persons name, and then continue talking without thinking about their name any more, you will very easily forget the name without it being coded into your long term memory. There was a period when I made myself code people's names into my memory when I met them by either repeating their name to myself in my head or by making up an image of how the name fitted the person in my mind. However, I forgot about this whole procude after a while, and now I'm back to forgetting people's names ;)

I have never been good at remembering names, I don't have a good memory for anything really but names I can forget in minutes, someone once told me I should think of something that identifies with that name when I am introduced but it doesn't work for me either.

I admit I have a terrible memory for names. I know loads of people but names escape me. I can remember faces but putting a name to the face is more difficult

Yeah. Me too. Most of the time, like when I'm introduced by a friend to another person.. I don't really pay much attention since I just thought that the introduction with that person and me is just for the mean time and later on, we will forget each others names. A few weeks passed when someone who I don't know by name happen to call me.. and when I turned around, I saw his face and then I really had difficulties in remembering what his name was. What I did was ask him where he studied again, and asked him what his full name is so that he won't notice that I can't recognize his name.. :) that's a lesson for me. To the rest of us, yeah. we should try not to forget the names of the people that is introduced by us. We don't really know. Maybe that person will really remember our faces and names .

I also forget the names of people who are introduced to me. Worse, I also forget their faces! I sometimes make my defective eyesights as an excuse for not remembering their faces. I really hate myself for having such poor memory.
