The Little One Was A Bit Subdue Last Weekend... But! :)

Playing Guitar - Lauren, serenading me on the Guitar... her newest interest.

I went to visit my Son and his family, as I often do, last Sunday. Alas, my youngest Granddaughter wasn't herself because she had quite a heavy cold and a sore throat. So, she quietly sat and played her computer games which she wanted me to watch, all the time. I mean... it's ok when you're involved in playing but watching her little workers building an amusement park and shops wasn't the most exciting thing I could have thought of doing. Nevertheless, I stayed and watched her for quite a while and gave her a bit of attention, which she obviously was in need of. The previous week though, when we came back from Buchan Park to the house, I noticed my elder granddaughter's guitar sitting on the floor against the dining room wall. Yes, you guessed it, the little one has comandeered it, in her love of music and wants to learn to play it properly now. She can strum it, and even get a basic tune out of it, but she is eager to better her playing. lol. It seems the crafts have gone by the by for a while, and we are concentrating on the arts. So, I took up my camera, and sat on the patio whilst she serenaded me and I took pictures. Meanwhile, the older one has discarded most of her former stuff and replaced it with make-up and a boyfriend... as they do when they're coming up sixteen. She's at that age now where she's not quite grown up, but thinks she is, but Mum and Dad are handling it well, and she's growing into a pleasant adult. Although it's turning a bit cold now and people are busying themselves with preparations for Winter, I'm kind of hoping that next Sunday will be a pleasant day, weatherwise, so that we can go out again. I'm sure Lauren's cold will be gone by then, as kids seem to fight off infection pretty quickly. Failing a fine day, I might just look up guitar lessons online, with her. It might be good to encourage her in pursuit of her music playing talents.

Oh, I'm sure she'll soon be much better. Kids are soon back on their feet, but I missed her little games and antics last week. I'm thinking of buying her a pretty little sewing box for her birthday, in September and filling it with all sorts of handy things she can use in her craftwork. I think she might quite enjoy that rather than using Mum's all the time. I will certainly encourage her in her guitar playing. She plays the recorder so hasn't a bad ear for music, so she will probably grasp it quite easily. Brightest Blessings, love and hugs. xx

Well, she has other ideas about her birthday, but I got to thinking that she's ALWAYS using her Mum's sewing basket, so it would be nice if she had one of her own, together perhaps with some bits and bobs for designing and creating. I have bits still hanging around from my toymaking... different coloured furs and needlepoint material, stuff like that. I could put all sorts of little bits in. Brightest Blessings... hurry back soon. xxxx

No worries, my friend. We all seem to have the problem of our servers going down from time to time. It's frustrating, I know but then what's the point of worrying when it's gone... we won't get it back. lol. Yes, I certainly know to enjoy them whilst they're growing up. Time passes so fast and before you know it, you're entertaining their kids. lol. I do love a bit of nostalgic memories though. :) Brightest Blessings, my dear friend. xx

Two of my granddaughters will be coming to visit soon. Holly plays trumpet and piano and this year Hannah began with the clarinet. Both are quite good but Holly has now gotten to the stage where she has developed a style and can be listened to and enjoyed. I'm hoping they bring their instruments so I can hear them play. Holly has piano exams when she returns and so I might be getting her a keyboard to practice on while she's here...I might learn something myself.

Wow, a keyboard would be nice for Holly. I doubt she'll be bringing her piano along!!! ha ha ha. I love when kids play instruments... especially when they're instruments I would like to be able to play and never learned. Oh well... such is life... I'm gonna get my penny whistle and pan pipes out now, and call the faeries. lolol. Brightest Blessings, my dear friend, in the hope that you have a great visit from Holly and Hannah. xx

Darkwing, i feel our families are so similar. My 15 year old is into the makeup, playing her music loud (not sure if your grand daughter is into that), and the boyfriend. But she is the one who now wants to learn the guitar. She wants one for christmas. She already plays the piano, and has just done exams in theory, but isnt as into it anymore. My 10 and 12 year olds want to do music. The 10 year old keeps looking up different instruments cause she doesnt know what one she wants to do. The kids love playing their computer games as well, but the ones they play dont interest me (or confuse me) but they try and explain them to me and show me stuff on them. I hope the little one gets over her cold soon, especially coming into winter for you over there. Our days are warming up, except today is quite cool. Best wishes to you, Darkwing

Yes, my granddaughter IS into playing her music loud. lol. The fifteen year old wanted the guitar a couple or three years ago, and I bought it for her for Christmas. She doesn't use it any more, so the younger one decided she'd like to take it up. lol. You're right, our families do seem to be quite similar in their likes and dislikes my friend. Brightest Blessings.

Yes, I love music and it has the ability to change people's moods depending on the style of music you produce. I'll always encourage the kids in their interests because I think their experience instill in them what they want to do with their lives and which path they want to tread. My granddaughter loves music too because she participates in dance, drama school, where music is a big part of their productions and gymnastics too. She even has one of these dance mats that you plug into the tv and are scored upon. She's pretty hot at it too, if I might say! lol. Brightest Blessings my dear friend and thank you for your input.

Flu season is upon us alright. My son is down with the flu too and is home today. I thought it was allergies to start off with but the cough persisted and the clear runny nose changed. It's the cough that bothers me the most. He had a fever early this morning so fingers crossed I get him better before Monday. He was not a happy lad when he had to miss school today. Guitar lessons sounds like fun. My husbands friends when they stay with us, has a guitar and my son played it everyday. I think he is interested in guitars and or drums LOL They have music every Wednesday and he is enjoying so far. I hope your granddaughter gets better soon and enjoy your Sunday!

You know what Honey - you are a fantastic Grandmother and I am sure that they adore you so much! Poor little one - I know how miserable they can feel when they are off colour and I do so hope that she will be back to her usual self this weekend! Sounds like no matter what the weather holds in store for this Sunday lots of fun will be had! I look forward to hearing either of your adventures or the guitar lessons! Quite a little entertainer isn't she! xxxx

Awww, thank you so much for those precious words, Mummymo. Yes, she did feel a bit glum basically because her throat and nose were sore, but it doesn't take them too long to find their feet again, so I daresay she'll be full of beans again this week. Yes, she is a little entertainer... she's not shy either. I don't know where she gets that from, I'm sure. I used to be like a little church mouse when I was younger. :) Brightest Blessings my dear friend. xxx

Wow, that's wonderful Raydene. I'm sure you encouraged them fully to learn to play. I love all sorts of instruments but I think of the ones you've listed, the sax is my favourite. I just love those dulcet tones. All instruments create beautiful music, except for Rolph's didgeridoo... lol... and I love my music. You're sounding a bit down at the moment... if you want to talk, you know where to find me... I hope all works out ok, sweetheart. I had no idea. Brightest Blessings my dear friend, and thank you for sharing. xxx

Good to hear about your extended family and how your interests ripples outward to them. Your excellent writing style always come through in your posts and it is always a pleasure to participate in your life, your interests and walks among your many sacred places and spaces. It is also good to hear that you are feeling better and I hope you like the photos I sent to your comment section during your contemplative cocoon time. I have been joined with you and others within the energetic healing circle for our beloved Soul Sister. I spoke to her in person yesterday and am awaiting word of how things went today. Hopefully our love and light will bring her through this healing crisis...my candles keep burning...every day. So dear friend and spiritual ally I wish continued light filled blessings for you and yours...and the budding musician. Raia
