How do you react when your boss shouts at you unfairly?

Today was a lousy day for me. I work with a newspaper and we are forever rushing against deadlines. Sometimes I have to edit or rework on articles which are very badly written (and these reporters call themselves journalists!) which takes up a lot of my time. There were a lot of other pending matters on my head and despite having done more than my share we ran short of time. My boss, although a nice man was quite mean to me in front of my subordinates one of whom had a great time seeing me blown up. I thought it was unfair and I felt quite miserable. I'm also pretty new to my office. How would all of you feel when such a situation arises?

hello rinkub! come on now, cheer up!!!! when i encounter situations such this, i do not take it personally. work was really hesvy and rushed, people are terrified including your boss. we lose control of emotions and tempers at some pressures. and you are thinking you've somehow been humiliated publicly, your officemates, having been there ahead of you, know better about the boss. think less about that, this is a test for you as well being new at this job , in this office. you will in time get your way around. and i tell, people may in certain negative ways, but at some point, they have ways of making it up, especially if they are professionals. i wish you the best....keep smiling now! Hi Perry, thanx a pile for your response. Sorry,I couldn't reply earlier as I've been just two busy. It's now nearly seven months in this office and the shouting and abusing are an everyday affair. It's just that it has left a very bitter taste in my mouth and my motivation's all gone.

Hi there buddy, what's up? Well, i will feel so upset also ofcourse and i am pretty sure that ifever it happened to me, then i think i'll lose my sense of working so hard and just let the time goes by and don't even care if i'll get kick because of it. But it would be very depressing, annoying and very awful if our boss shouted on us unfairly. I hope you are ok now and just cheer up buddy! Have a nice day ahead, happy posting and earning here in Mylot. Godspeed, Kiko

Hi there.Sorry that I didn't respond earlier. Too much work pressure. Thanks for your support. Over a period of time, the shouting has just become an everyday affair. Guess I've just got used to it. But,what's happened is, that now after 7 months, I've become allergic to the workplace and anything connected with it. I'm sort of traumatised.

I know this feeling I was too working in a school and despite my best efforts it was always me who was reprimanded for not being co-operative , I left that job for some other reasons but then people did call me up and told me that the the teacher I was supposed to co-operate with and who made all the troubles was finally sorted out by the principal. Now when I look back, I feel its just that its easy to target a new person sometimes and the person who enjoys seeing others put down- just shows his true character and its a reflection of his personality and nothing to do with you. Let your work speak for itself and just let it be- if you have it in you they will have to recognise it sooner or later. Till then just concentrate on your work.

My boss is like such kind of person. There is no other better choice. I have to keep silent and let him keeps on yelling.
