parking

for the past ten years we have beening parking my car on the grounds of the parochial house witch is at the back of my house with the permission of the then parish priest. now they are putting up gates and we are beening told that we cannot park in there now. so we are now beening force to park on the road witch at times is very busy with a school on the other side .parking can be impossible at times during the day and at night they are at the risk of been damage witch has happen in the past . have we any rights or is there anythink we can do . all help and advice will be appreciate.

This is going to sound like a totally stupid question, but do you have a driveway? (I'm not sure what type of home you live in or the property situation; that's why I ask!) You could consider installing a driveway if that is possible (and I know it isn't in some situations, for example if you own a brownstone or townhome/rowhouse) or perhaps you could volunteer to help with the cost/maintenance of the grounds where you have been parking, or help install the gates? Are the gates going to be locked? If so, if allowed to park there, you could offer to hold one of the keys in case there is ever a need to enter (such as emergency) or you could be the "gatekeeper" so to speak, managing it when special events or circumstances arise. It's a thought at least?
