okay, so I get my phone bill today from where my husband and I have been talking back and forth through our cell phones while he's been in kuwait and now iraq. $2900.00. I am totally speechless and have had to anxiety attacks already over this. I want to talk to him every chance he gets to call, but how do i tell him that he can't call me and talk long anymore. it's been so difficult already not being able to talk to hhim all the time and now i know he's not gonna be able to call me every day like he's been doing. someone help me and tell me what to do or how to tell him please!!!!!!!

OMG! Tell him to use the DSN line, or get a cheap phone card, it is much cheaper spending money on phone cards than on cell phone bills. I have been having expensive cell bills but not to that extent. I don't know what service you have, but Alltel offers my circle. I put my husbands numbers he calls me from on the DSN line in and allel doesn't charge me for those calls. If he calls your home phone it wouldn't matter. Him using his cell phone over in Iraq is what is costing you so much, because he is calling you from overseas. He needs to stop using his cell and get a calling card or use the DSN lines. I know it sucks, but it beats those cell phone bills. My hubby calls me three times a week and we talk on instant messenger too. So, it's not so bad, I miss him and I know what your going through trust me. For the amount of money I would take a small loan out to pay your phone bill through AER or if there is a loan company that works with the military like Pioneer Services they only take a cuople hundred bucks out a month until it is paid off. I know it sucks but we have had to do it a while back. I hope this helps!

yeah, he's finally started using a calling card. we can't afford a bill like that right now. his internet should be up and running in about a month or so, once he gets his chew. until then i just won't get to talk to him as much. we have messenger and skype both, but without the internet it's not doing us any good. thanks for the advice on the loan services. i will definitely look in to that

Your welcome, I know it is tough to not be able to talk as much, but that phone bill will kill ya! I know I have had some serious issues with that in the past. Last year, my cell phone bill at one time was $500. So, I know how it will put a dent in your pocket book hahaha! ANyhow, I hope you guys get to talk more often here soon!

wow is that for a year :) I dont know how it all works in america but in australia its cheapet to call from home phone than mobile. Use sms when you can to avoid extra cost. I know you want to talk to him I was the same when my husband was in the army I would get the "craving" to call 10 times a day I would say to my self wait 20min then call him then I will start doing something and forget about calling him for few hours. That helpes me hips.

yeah, i don't have a home phone. we bought skype phones so that we could talk while he was over there for free, but he doesn't have the internet hooked up to his computer yet and won't for another month or two. it's driving me crazy. now i don't talk to him at all hardly.

If it was my husband he'd say "I don't care." really just tell him when you speak to him what the bill is. If it matters to him he will cut the calls shorter. At least down to about $1000 dollars. At least the pay is great. Can he use the internet at all? You could email each other or instant messager.

He doesn't have a chew yet, so his internet is not up and running as of yet. that would definitely help because we have skype phones that don't cost a dime. he will be getting it in about a month though. and it did matter to him. the pay is good, but not good enough to afford a phone bill like that eery month. thanks for the advice though.
