We got our puppy the other night, she is so cute! So far only one accident on the floor. I think my sister in law must have been working with her going outside because she has done a great job! I thought I would have a ton of messes to clean up, but only one so far. We named her Abby. It took forever for me to find a name that I liked and that would fit her. My son LOVES her to death. I'm glad they will grow up together.

Thats an adorable pic!! Im glad you finally got her. Thats great she is going outside for you. I hate the potty training part! LOL We should be getting our pup Hemi in the next few days. She got her shots and wormer yesterday. Im hoping we can bring her home tomorrow. Its nice to have a pup and a small child. They can grow up together and be buddies. My dog now loves my children and sleeps with them every chance she gets.

Our puppy is doing pretty good now. It took a bit to get her potty trained, but I think we finally got it down pat now. I love having my son and her grow up together. She is already starting to be protective of the house, and I hope she will be that way over my son and 'watch' out for him. He has medical conditions and I think it would be nice if I could somehow train the dog to alert us if something were to go wrong. Kinda like one of those safety dogs.

Oh, Abby is a lovely little puppy. I hope you and your son really enjoy her company. It sounds like you are doing well with house training her. Just one accident is fine. It can be challenging to think of a name. I decided to call my first dog, he is now 3 years old, Secret. His pedigree name is Secret party Circle. Naming my second dog, she is now 1 and a half years old, was more difficult. I called her Magic because she is black.

Soon after I posted that message, she started having several accidents. We finally found a system that is working for her, and that is basically rewarding her with treats after she goes outside-- and so far it has helped so much. She hasn't had any accidents in days now. For a while there, it was happening alot. I was so upset! I think we fixed it now though. I'm so glad we chose Abby as a name. Now we have been calling her Abby Dabby Doo or Abby Cadabby. LOL

Thanks! She is a mix between a min-pin and shitsu kind of dog. She is definitly taking after her dad, the min-pin. I need to get a updated picture of her on here.

What a great picture. They are both adorable. One accident is fantastic. She sounds like a smart little thing. I like the name Abby. Our dogs name is Sadie Mae. It took me forever to name her too.

She is so much bigger now and so hyper! I thought she would be a little more mellow-- but she is very hyper but does sleep alot too. She finally learned how to bark, so that has been hysterical when she thinks she is so 'bad' barking at the bigger dog on the corner. LOL

Oh you are so lucky if that is all you had to clean up. My puppy took forever to train. I bought those training pads that you put by the door. They have some sort of scent that makes puppies pee on them, so they say. I would put the dog on there and kepp him there until I was sure he didn't have to potty. And as soon as I would let him go, he would pee right next to the pad! It was terrible. I wanted to get another puppy, but I have an eight month baby. I think I'll try potty training him first. Good luck with the new puppy!

About a week after I posted my message, all heck broke loose and I was cleaning UP soooo many poops and pees! I started keeping her in the kitchen alot more until I could find a way to break her. We resorted to rubbing her nose in it, and then rewarding her with treats when she did go outside and now I think she is getting the hang of it. I still don't think she knows HOW to let US know when she needs to go out---we have just been taking her out alot, but not necessarily having her tell us she needs to go. Sometimes if we see her sniffing around we hurry to take her out. My boyfriend said he did see her scratch the door one time when she was ready to go out, but I think that was a fluke thing. LOL
