Pictures with articles

AC has suddenly started deleting all the pictures I have put with my articles. I have not changed the place I get them, they are relevant to the articles and they are the same size they have always been. I emailed them and they gave a generic answer. I have responded to that email with pretty much what I have said above. I'm waiting for the fall out. They will probably start rejecting my articles now, knowing them.

But do you own the copyright to them? Personally, I will not post a picture with my AC articles unless I took the picture myself (aka I own the copyright to the picture). It is a habit I picked up somewhere else. If it is not mine, I don't submit it. And if you are paying for the copyright (permission to use the photo) make sure that you tell them. If they believe that the copyright is not yours(or that you don't have permission to use), they may just be deleting them to aviod legal problems.

I down them from stock.xchng. It is a free sight that people post their pictures to and let the public use for free. If there is a charge, I don't use the pictures. There are plenty that are free to use. I've used pictures from this page for months with no problem, until now.

This could be a sticky wicket here...while that site is a so-called free site, those photos are still owned by the photographer..I was looking up the rules there Always ask permission from the photographer if you want to use the Image * In website templates that You intend to sell or distribute. * For creating printed reproductions that You intend to sell. * On "print on demand" items such as t-shirts, postcards, mouse pads, mugs (e.g. on sites like Cafepress), or on any similar mass produced item that would contain the Image in a dominant way. See the second "rule"---since you are using the photo as a reproduction for an article that you are selling/earning money from, they could see that as an infringement to the photographers rights Most of the photos I use for my articles are mine..if not, I give credit to the webpage I found it on--so my idea here...when you download the picture, pay attention to the website address that the photo appears and give that as the credit/copyright line

That's weird...I went to look at the articles that I had posted photos on them, and mine are still there--Have you heard from them yet as to an explanation??

Nope, still haven't heard. I did submit an article for no upfront payment and the pic went through. So, it's something they are doing when it's published.

The pictures problem is a glitch in the publishing platform, that apparently is because of the alpha testing of a new software that all CPs will have soon. It's not anything you have done wrong and they should have it fixed soon... I had one publish last night and it had a picture on it, but the last two before that did not (pout). If you'll check out the forum on AC, there's a couple of threads about this in there, and it is a known glitch and they are working on it, as far as I know, and it seems last night it worked fine. good luck to you! http://www.associatedcontent.com/user/11173/michelle_l_devon_michy.html Love and stuff, Michy

That seems really strange. Maybe they are changing their format? I really don't have a clue. I've never included a photo with my articles, although I understand that you make more money if you do. Good luck getting an answer from AC. People seem to have a hard time getting responses from them.

I don't know if I will keep trying. It does take a bit of time and then to have them deleted is frustrating. And, yes, it does take pulling a few hen's teeth to get a straight answer from them. I don't know that I make more money on articles that have pics. It just seems like I should. LOL

I was going to ask if you meant the ones beyond your most recent 10, but I see that those aren't the ones that are disappearing. That is really odd that they are just deleting them. I would say, however, that if you submit an article with a picture which they accept, and then they choose to remove the picture, it shouldn't really affect your article. Sure, the articles with pictures might be nice for some, but I have one friend who never includes pictures, and his articles are just fine without them.

I may just forget about the pictures. It's a pain to find them and then have then deleted.
