Indian railways is competing from new rivals in their own passenger traffic as well as goods traffic. After the arrival if low cost airlines in Indian skies has eroded the occupancy for the upper class in indian railways specially In first Ac/ Second AC and 3 tier Ac classes. there are many reasons for their loss of passenger traffic beacuse of more travel time, lack facilities in the trains and poor food quality. Now with better roads like quandrangle road project , Volvo Buses are also giving a tough competetion to trains in some segments. its time for the railways to wake up and do corrective measures to bring back their customers in to their fold.

Quality of service on Indian railways is very bad, be it punctuality, safety, food, cleanliness. Over last few years, another bad aspect has been added to this bad service. It is not responding to conplaints. During this year, I have made many complaints. in complaint book, on email, but no response.
