Stupid American Special Interest

United States

Why is it we live in a great country like the United States, yet are controled by so darn much special interest? Now days we can't hardly do anything without some group of people telling us why we should or shouldn't be doing this or that. We have great shows on TV (I liked Kid Nation as did my girlfriend) yet a bunch of people somewhere have gotten together bashing it. Hopsitals and Doctors can't or won't treat you without talking with some group somewhere. Banks have service charges on everything and in some cases it doesn't matter how much money you have there. One of the biggest complaints I've heard is the crap they are showing on Cable TV. As example - running the same moving 3 to 7 days in a row, playing the same series episodes over and over again. Currently cable around here is having 3 days (all weekend long) of Bringing Down the House. All of this stuff going on tells me quite clearly our money, time, and wants don't matter to those that have control over all this and more. Its to easy to blame high prices on unions or other countries. Besides most of the biggest problems we're having in the U.S comes from within the U.S. What happened that has made the American people so stupid they will listen to special interest, and avoid basing things on their own thoughts, ideas or desires?

The reason why this is so is because these interest groups know they can get some nice rewards manipulating the system. Some do it for money and others do it for power. Also, the reason why change doesn't occur (or why some needless changes occur) is because the groups like the status quo as is. It happens in several areas education, energy, environment, transportation, anything you can name. The people listen to these groups because of short attention span and the me-me-me attitude. As long as their lives aren't grossly effected they do not care what the groups are saying or doing.

It's called programming. Corporations have you where they want you. By the way, some of those so called "special interests" are me, me, me, but some of them are actually out there to help us all. Don't accept corporate media labels, as you said we should all have our own thoughts and ideas.

I don't know that special interests have much to do with tellevision schedualing, those are private industries and can do what they want, viewers will dictate this. Special interest groups arise when, as you put it, peoples with their own thoughts, ideas and desires hook up with other people who have similar thoughts, ideas and desires and form groups, presto, a special interest group is born

I know! Everybody wants special rules. But you know what? This is America. These are the rules. If you don't like them, there's the door. America should take care of Americans over (illegal) immigrants, poverty at home over poverty abroad.
