I am the same way, I even read things I don't care about. I also can read upside down almost as fast as right side up. And backwards, I can put books by a mirror and read the reverse image. It is awful, it is a compulsion but I have to read, every sign, every store front.

I can read upside down and backwards also. I can write that way too. When I was in school my friends used to pass notes to each other written this way. It made it harder for someone to read out notes.

I read the product labels to know exactly what is in the food I am buying.

Lol! Yes, I'm guilty of this. I love reading and will read anything I can get my hands on. Of course, I prefer reading a book, but if one isn't nearby, I'll pick up something else (anything that happens to be in reach) and start reading the label and then the ingredients. I try to pick up the object with the longest product label and description first (it flows better than a list of ingredients does). Then, after that, I'll most likely keep reading product labels until I run out of products. THEN I'll move on to ingredients.

Lol! Yes! I'm guilty of that, too. :D And I agree that some of those ingredients are hard to read. A challenge is never a bad thing, though.

I read food labels all the time, but not for the sake of reading (I have books, magazines, and newspapers for that!). I read to find out how much fat and sodium are in products. You would not believe the sodium content for most food. Packaged food is really awful. Once you start paying attention, you realize how much salt you are taking in on one day. Most people are eating 3-4 times too much; no wonder there is such a high rate of heart problems and obesity in this country. Anyway, I have gotten off on a real tangent here. I do read things I don't need to just to be reading, I see your point on that one. But (particularly if you are a writer), you just never know when some information will come in handy!
