How far away from the house do your kids go when they are out playing?

Well we have a pretty big yard so we don't let our kids go outside the yard. I am also careful about that because I don't want them to be snatched up by someone while they are down the street away from me. I watch them carefully when they are out playing because there have been too many kidnappers on the loose taking innocent young children from their own front yards. Where do your children play? Do you watch them carefully? Even though I feel that my neighgborhood is safe I still take precautions because you never know who is out there.

My son isn't even two years old yet, so he isn't allowed anywhere without my husband or me. We do let him play outside when it's nice out, but he's not allowed more than a few feet away from us. We have a pretty big yard, and the lot next to us and behind us are both empty, so he can play in them, too. Sometimes my husband will chase him around and they will play for a while and get pretty far from the house. But my husband is with him so it's okay.
When he gets older, he might be allowed to play outside by himself, but it will still just be in our own yard.

Both of my daughters are grown now. But when they were little we were living with my parents. They had a fenced in yard. My kids were allowed to play outside in the yard. Someone was always outside with them. I just felt better that way. I think all parents need to be careful. Just use common sense. Watch your children. I would rather people think I'm over protective, then be morning the lose of a child.

I have a 5 year old and we live way out in the middle of the woods on an old dirt road. My nearest neighbour is my brother and my other neighbour on the other side has lived there over 15 years. We have a huge yard. I let me son play out there where he wants but even thuogh he is 5 years old and we area surrounded by people we know and trust I never ever let him outside by himself. You just never know who's going to pass by and what their intentions may be.

My children our very young and are not ever out of eyesight however when my nieces and nephews are over they are not allowed out in front of the house they must stay in the back yard. We have a good size front yard but it is a very busy street. My sister has six kids and tends to be very relaxed with where they go. This makes me very nervous but even though people have said things to her she does not change.

My son is 7 1/2 and we live out in the country. We have 37 acres of land. He gets to go out by the barn and in the pasture by himself, but he cannot go into the woods or to the pond by himself. We have 3 dogs who do not let anyone onto out property without making it known VERY loudly. They usually follow him wherever he goes.
