I'm colorblind. One of the idiosyncracies of my brand of that condition is, I don't see the color Purple. I honestly have no idea what it looks like.
People tell me that it exists, but why should I believe them. I mean, nothing in modern science can prove to me that this "purple" thing even exists.
Wake Up World! Quit Drinking the Kool~Aid (that I bet is Grape Flavored). You see a purple haze and think it's real. Well it's not!
Why do you think that dark blue shade is "purple"? You were brainwashed by your parents, Crayola, Kindergarten teachers and the the Kings of ancient times. Kings and Queens are said to have worn Purple, talk about the emporer having no clothes!

Let us then imagine that you are given a small implant, consisting just of a photocell that responds to that wavelength and in doing so triggers a small electric shock to you. Not painful just enough that you can't fail to be aware of it.
Now when you see some object coloured purple you feel a mild electric shock, so you can identify those items possessed of this supposed property.
However, our minds and bodies, being as they are soon adjusts to this shock to the point where you are no longer conscious of it. You continue however to be aware of perceiving the supposed property 'purple.'
If you doubt this is possible read up on Blind sight and super blind sight.
Now, when you see an object which others say is coloured purple you too refer to it as purple. You have become accustomed to call it purple.
Is this much different from anyone else? Maybe not. Maybe when faced with a purple object I experience exactly that which you experience when you see a red object. Yet all that matters is that then I see a purple object I say purple and so to you. Our internal subjective experience cancels out
all the best urban

Are you wondering if I just learned the names of colors wrong?

then I may have missed your point.
As far as the "shock treatment" so I can learn what purple is, how do I know that it is actually purple. I mean the shocker could have been programmed by a "Purplist" who just wants to brainwash me into the cult. :~D

Sorry you can't grasp purple, Ted.
It is a beautiful color. Shades of blue blended with red.
Simply amazing.
Unfortunately, it is one of the many things in life that have to be seen to be believed...or was that your satirical point?

hehehe...this is whole discussion is hilarious. It is to bad that you can't see purple. My favorite color is lavender; light, pastel like, pinkish purple. It is a very pretty color..tis to bad you can't see it... be careful at those manilia colored green lights, that could get confusing...
