cburtz -- I'm sure it would be alright to talk about Weight Watchers. We talk about everything else on this forum. Seems the people I've talked to that have been on Weight watchers lose about 30 pounds max. and then have trouble maintaining and end up gaining some, if not all, of it back. Have you had this experience?

Hi, I am not a big fan of diets, because I feel limiting ourselves dooms us to failure. I have tried so many diets in the past and could never stick to any one of them, except for a low sodium diet I am restricted to for health reasons (but that is not a choice!). Nothing seemed to work for me. I tried low fat (gained on that one), low carb (lost weight but couldn't stay on it). Then I started really paying attention to portion control, and eating small amount frequently. That works for me. After about two weeks, the weight started falling off. I do not deny myself anything I want (within reason of course), but I never eat more than a half cup of anything at a time, and I eat every half hour or so. If you look at the serving sizes on most food, you will see that one serving is usually a half cup. And when the nutrition pyramid says X number of servings of fruit a day, they don't mean a whole apple or a whole orange, they mean approx a half cup (about a half an apple or orange, etc). I had no idea how much we over eat until I read what a serving size really is. Sometimes it is hard to eat every half hour, so when I am working I take things along with me like carrot sticks, fruit, a sandwich (quartered, and I only eat a quarter of it at a time). It is a lifestyle change and takes time to adjust to, but it is the only thing I have found that works for me long term. I also exercise daily. Good luck on your weight loss, and I hope you get a lot of good suggestions! !

Great! I have the firm steps. I haven't tried the dvd's with it yet, but I love the steps. I do them while I watch tv so that is why I haven't tried the dvd's.

Wow I can't believe you have never heard of Weight Watchers. It is kind of like a Jenny Craig, but much better cause you don't have to buy their food. They just teach you how to eat better so you will lose weight.

When I did weight watchers, I did real good, but there were about 5 of us in the office doing it, so the support was there!
