Hot topic?

there are many discussion categories here in my myLot. there's new discussion, discussion my friends started, i started, etc.. etc.., but what i don't fully understand is the 'today's hot topics' category. coz, the way i see them, they're just about the same. can somebody explain to me what makes a topic, a hot topoic here in myLot?

To my understanding, a new discussion with lots of responses will be on today's hot discussion. Have you every noticed this? I agree with you that all of the discussions are just about the same.

I haven't been around much the last few months but in the past any topic that was getting responses would get added to the hot topic - problem is they don't stay long because there are a million other discussions doing the same thing.
