My cat is acting out!!!!

Recently, my cat Lily has started peeing on my bed or my couch. I keep her litter box clean and have tried changing the litter to see if this helps, it doesn't. I had a baby 6 weeks ago and so this is disturbing me greatly. I do not want him exposed to cat pee. Has anyone else dealt with this. How did you stop it? I do not want to make her an outside cat. My neighbor has literally 12 cats that live around her yard and I fear they will hurt Lily or expose her to disease.

...One reason your cat may be peeing in inappropriate places is due to bladder infection or kidney problems. That is how they let you know they are having a problem. ...Your cat knew you were pregnant, so I really cannot think she would be acting out. Was she doing it while you were pregnant? It would more likely have started then if she had a problem with a baby. ...A trip to vets would be wise. ...My cat used to drape himself over my belly and purr when I was pregnant with my first. They know when you become pregnant, they can tell from smell of our urine. They know probably before we do. ...Good luck with the kitty problems. I know how frustration it can be. Mine have been peeing in my son's room since we moved. I need to spray crawl space with bleach and clean his carpet. People who lived here before had a cat and 3 dogs. I'm guessing they can smell last pets to be here. Only carpet we didn't clean with Bissel Pet and Odor carpet cleaner, cuz we ran out was his room. ...Peace be with you. =(^;^)= Della

Hi Thebluerose, maybe your cat is trying to communicate something she is unhappy with. Or maybe she is trying out what are the boundaries for her. What I'll do is the next time she does it, take her by the neck from behind and stick her nose in the pee, while with the other hand you shake your finger back and forth and tell her at a loud voice not to do this again. After you take the pee off spray some cat repellent odor on it too. I hope this will help you to solve the trouble. TheFortunes
