What brand of cat food do you feed your cats? We just got two, so I was wondering what brand was best.

I feed my Columbus and Waffles Friskies canned food. Both cats love the senior turkey giblets flavor, but will eat other flavors such as chicken and beef. Mimi also eats Friskies canned food, particularly "smooth" textured food as whitefish-tuna, turkey giblets, and mixed grill. I don't give Mimi chunky stuff such as chicken because she vomits from it. I still don't know why.

Fancy Feast is what I feed my two cats. They love it! When they hear the can open they both come running and jump in my lap and on the counter top. Plus my vet told me the wet food is better for their digestive systems. Try it!

"Best" is really a relative term. It depends on what's best for you - pricewise and availability and also what agrees with your cat. Any very good food may work well for one cat and not for another. That said, there are two groups of cat foods - crap and good stuff. Crap includes dry foods - NOT good for cats. It will keep them alive and that is it. It also includes pretty much every food you can find in the grocery store. Also some chain pet stores like Petsmart. Good stuff is canned food that is grainless, includes actual meat, no meal or byproducts (unless named), and especially no corn, wheat or soy. Some examples of these good foods include Wellness, Nature's Variety Instincts, Evo, Natural Balance, By Nature Organics, etc.

I let my cats choose between dry and canned. Dry is always out; canned is out twice a day (one can between two cats per day). I believe their body knows what they need and will direct them to the right bowl. That said, I used to only feed dry. I thought it was better for their teeth and bowel movements. After 10 years of dry only, both cats were having teeth fall out of their mouths and my Persian was losing all his fur and spending all his awake time coughing. After lots of tests that came back ok, I didn't know what was wrong. I decided to start feeding canned food and wow!!! My cat was back to normal within two weeks. His body was just not digesting and delivering vitamins and nutrients from the dry, that's the only guess I have. That was 3 years ago and he's been fine ever since (and I never stopped feeding canned). I'm sorry I didn't figure it out sooner.

No way would I feed my cats the "cheapest I can find." You are literally feeding them junk and garbage doing that. They need something more healthy if you don't want to have vet bills later on. I currently feed California Natural. It's not cheap - $1.00 per can, and $10 for a 5 lb bag of dry (I feed both, they get different benefits from each), but it really helps their health. I used to get Nutro at PetSmart for years. Recent health problems caused me to switch to California Natural and even tho it's more expensive, I'm glad I did.

For canned food, we are feeding our cats Friskies. When it comes to dry food, we tend to get a variety of brands. Basically, we buy a lot of the dry food on sale. Partly because we are taking care of a feral colony which can get expensive.
