This weekend someone came and knocked on my door b/c they wanted to tell me how the "end of the world is close at hand". This guy was actually not that pushy and i just let him talk, but most of the time i tell them that im a satan worshiper or something (just kidding about the first part) I want to start making pamplets of my religion and go knock on christains doors and hand them out to show them how it fells but i wont. LOL I wish they would stop though b/c most people heard about Jesus and if they wanted to go to church they would. What do you think?

When I was a kid and the door-knockers were making their way around the neighborhood, I would run from the house where I lived (my grandmother's house) after they came there to my great-grandmother's house, so I could beat them to that place. Then my great-grandmother and I would set up an elaborate "ritual" setup to invite them into when they got there. It was awfully fun, and since there were several different groups that did the door-knocking, we got to scare away lots of people. I never did see the same group come to her house twice though. *giggles* Since I live in apartments rather than having my own home, I've actually had very few of these people since I've been an adult. Where I live now, it's like the top floor of the house is ours, but most people don't realize that, so they would just bother the people downstairs and not even know we were up here. =P Usually when any tries to preach at me, I tell them "We'll let you talk about your religion for (specific amount of time) and then I'll tell you about my religion, to be fair." They don't usually like that much. They also don't like it when they bash my religion mercilessly after I have been nice to them, and I point out to them who is being more "Christlike" at that moment. =p

We live by a morman church so we get it all the time then there is a chathlic church right down the street. I should do the same though and when they are finished so ok now my turn and see what they do. LOL

That's a really funny story lecanis lol. Usually when I have Jehova's Witnesses at my door, I send them to the house right in front of me, which is my grandmother's house. She is a Missionary Baptist, and thinks anyone who is not also a Missionary Baptist is a satanist (even the Southern Baptist lmao!) I just send them her way so she can tell them how wrong they are. Once she got in a screaming match with my neighbor when I lived elsewhere. They were screaming bible verses at each other to prove how right their own denomination is (the other person was Assembly of God). I think I was at school at the time and heard about it later that day or something.

Well, if you feel like openning it, why not? if you don't ...tell them that , "Can't entertain today, I'm busy" but the best thing is to ignore it!!! http://www.socyberty.com/Advice/lessons-in-Life.43057

I do find it annoying b/c it's almost like they are assuming that you do not have any religious beliefs or that you "need saving". However I do semi-understand why they do it. Some religions believe the ultimate in being religious is spreading the word to those who do not know about it. I think there are better ways to do it then going door to door though. Send flyers, through a religious gathering where people can come voluntarily, but don't come to my door then expect me to stand and listen to you for a half hour. Usually I just say really quick something like I'm not interested, or I already know about it, and then shut the door.

yea i understand too see my dad is a christain and we cant talk without him trying to push it on me. I know its b/c what they were taught to do but yea like you said it would be just as effective if they made pamplets and mailed them out or just put them on the door instead that would be way less annoying even though still annoying.

religion - every person has a right to choose his/her own religion
Hyperreligiosity is a frequent sign of mental illness. I'm a Catholic. We are not taught that the world will end tomorrow. We are just taught to be always prepared spiritually because you never know when it will happen. In fact we are taught that it will happen when we least expect it. I too hate it when people from other religions try to "recruit" me into joining them or try to convince me that their beliefs are right and mine are wrong. I respect their beliefs, so why can't they respect mine? They can choose whatever religion they want. Why can't I choose mine? Believe me, this world would be a much more peaceful place if we just respect each other's beliefs.

If someone you cared for was walking along, listening to their ipod or something, and didn't see that they were walking right on the edge of a steep cliff... wouldn't you try to warn them? Or if you knew that what they were about to eat contained deadly poison? What if their kids were playing with toys-made-in-China that you knew were on the recall list... People assume that since it's "religion" (which it's not, but...) that their beliefs are inviolate and that it doesn't really matter what they believe. Also, just because "most Americans have heard about Jesus" doesn't mean that most Americans know who He is...

I to have thought about doing somehting like that. I've thought about asking them, where do they live so I can come knock on their door when it is convienent to me (the middle of the night) and ask to talk to them about how they are all wrong. I've also thought about standing on the public sidewalk near their church. I'd either hold up a sign or be passing out stuff how there is no god and they are all wrong and see how they like it. Usually I just do like you nd let them ramble, get it over with and say thank you, then have a good day. That's much easier but not near as fun as my other ideas.

I think it is wonderful that people are spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ wherever they can. That is what we (Christians) are called to do. I believe they should be very polite and kind. Many people have been saved because of people coming by to tell them about the Lord Jesus Christ. God bless.

I am proud of all christians and there belief in Christ I just dont want to be bothered by something i have heard many many times. thanks for your responce and God Bless you

Whenever that happens I usually give the visitors a brief description of my bliefs concerning the topic they introduce and tell them they are not going to change my mind, so I don't want them to waste their time trying, good day, go with God. Thus I dismiss them civilly and also get the chance to share my beliefs with them while they're there.

If they're Jehovah's Witnesses, you could always tell them they can come in if they'll say the Pledge of Allegiance first. I usually just say something like, "I appreciate your concern and your devotion to spreading the Word of God. However, I have my own religion and worship in my own way. I'd be happy to discuss religion with you as long as we're both speaking from love and showing no disrespect for any religion." The ones who stay to talk are usually good conversationalists. I don't get a lot of walk-ins at home, though. I talk to people for a living at work. At home, my rule is you don't get in unless you ring the doorbell. The doorbell is the ringtone on my cell phone. If you don't know my cell number, you've got no business on my porch on a Saturday.

I am a christian, and I have got to tell you I do not like it when people knock on my door eather. I guess if it bothere you as it does me the best thing you can do is be nice, and tell them you have not got time for this at this time. I made the mistake one time of letting some one visit from a chruch that had knocked on are door, and it was vary hard to get reed of them. See they think they are doing some thing for God. But when all the person can think of is I wish they would go away they are not real doing any thing for God. I am sure what I have wrote was not much help, how ever I do hope that they will lieve you alone.
