Let's take a walk down the memory lane, shall we? As we all know, compliments pay a significant role in our lives. I wonder if you still remember the best compliments that you've ever received in your entire life? I know it'll be hard to decide which is the best one, so what are the best ONES or the most memorable ones that you still remember till this day? The kind of compliments that keep you going when you feel down or when the going gets tough. For me, here are some of the most memorable compliments I've received: 1. Someone told me that I inspired her to have a dream of living abroad, and now she's also living that dream. 2. Someone told me that I was the glue that kept some people together. 3. Someone told me that I made him a better person. 4. Someone told me that my emails were so interesting so that he couldn't wait to respond to them right away. 5. My parents told me that they were proud of me. Come on, people, let's remember the good things in life and share them with me!!! ;-D

Well you are right compliments just make you feel energetic in life. Basically I work very hard and if someone compliments me on that I feel like working even harder. But sometime I do get compliments on looks, those are the ones I am unable to handle as I feel so embarassed and I prefer to forget such compliments as I feel if I will take them seriously then they will go to my head and I will become arrogant.

Sunita, I don't think you'll become arrogant if you accept compliments about your looks. Maybe it's more about the Asian culture that discourages accepting some types of compliments for fear of being seen as arrogant people? I came from Indonesia and I know for sure that our culture is that way, but once I moved to Finland, I realized that nobody here thinks that way if we accept somebody else's compliments about our looks. ;-D In fact, if we accept compliments, then the person who gives the compliment is happy, too. ;-D

I love compliments, big or small lol. But honestly I dont pay that much attention to them. But I do give them a lot. I never lie when I give a compliments cause that would ruin the compliment as it is, and no one would ever believe me in the future when giving one. But complimenting is such a big part of my life that I dont really hold any back. If I see something I like, I compliment it. If Im impressed I compliment, as well as when flirting ;) I actually guess that the best compliment I got really isnt much of a compliment. My nephew (nearly 4yo) and I spend a lot of time together. It is my goal to be the best play uncle there is, as I missed that my self. One day we sat with his parents and talked about how nice it is that I come by so often. And then my nephew says: Im first of all, HIS friend, then his parents :D

1. someone told me that my dreams will come true because I will make them come true by working hard. 2 someone once told me that my hands were so beautiful that I should be a hand model. (that was a long time ago.) 3. someone told me that I was interesting because what someone won't think of....I will Those are the top three.

Out of all of the compliments I've ever received, the ones that make me happiest are the ones that have to do with who I am, rather than how I look or my talents. Two compliments in particular made me feel the best. I had a friend who once told me that I made him feel safe. I never knew what he meant but a year later he told me that his father abused him and it was me who he came to in order to feel safe. The second thing was when my boyfriend at the time, but now my fiance, told me that I was the best friend he's ever had and that he was so happy with me.

I think the best compliment I have ever received in my life was when my husband asked me to marry him. On this day, he told me that I was the most beautiful woman he had ever met, and told me that as beautiful as I was on the outside I was far more beautiful on the inside. And that he felt like he had found the most beautiful woman in the world to become his wife. My second most memorable compliment came from my daughter when she wakes up every morning, she tells me that I am the worlds best mommy ever, and that she loves me about 100 times a day!

Ohhhh...I think that's too bad. I mean, when you're feeling down or discouraged, sometimes remembering compliments is a good thing to balance yourself up. ;-D

I have recived lots of compliments over the years but my favorite one was when this nice looking lady ( i am also female) came up to me and said you are very pretty and I said thank you and she said your welcome and walked away. This was at the mall. This same thing happened to me at a popular hang out I used to go to. complements are one of the best gifts you can give and I will remember it forever.

To be honest, I don't remember any of those compliments I received back then and until now. I would prefer to be more humble, than listen to those things. I don't want any applause, just a simple "thanks" for me will do. I do received lots of them, but I don't want to put these things in my mind and later become the opposite of what I used to be.

Yes it is natural, so I just look at it as just a normal chapter of the day.

Ah, THANKS for sharing your different view, Raijin. I think the point is not in getting applause, though. It's just nice to remember that our lives mean something and that there are people who confirm that. It's just nice to know that our existence is not merely an existence. But anyway, I admire your view. Humility is a virtue indeed. ;-D
