The Lefties of the U.S. are celebrating because Columbia University is open-minded enough to allow Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (President of Iran) to give a speech.
I wonder, would the left in the US stand for it if an American politician or organization leader openly tortured and imprisoned homosexuals?
Would the same people praising Columbia Univesity for their "diversity" feel the same if an American who calls for the imprisonment of women's rights activists was welcomed to speak?
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has Hanged homosexuals. There are women in his prisons whose biggest crime was speaking out for women's rights.
I guess it isn't torture of homosexuals or imprisonment of suffragettes that bothers the left... it's just Americans that bother them.

My main complaint had nothing to do with these things...I didn't know about them before you posted this. My main complaint was allowing a leader of a country known to support terrorism to visit freely. And be allowed to talk to our college students? Crazy. About your comment about the "left"...well said!

Thank you.
It's horrifying to know that, while his country is killing our troops in Iraq, he is being welcomed by Columbia University.
Apparently they would have given Hitler a forum too.

Hello ParaTed,
I object to Columbia's invitation on so many levels, I don't know where to begin.
Let's see:
First, after he rose to international attention as the new leader of Iran, he was definitively identified as one of their captors by many of the Americans who were held hostage in Iran in 1978-80. This makes Ahmadinejad an international criminal involved in an act of war against the USA. He should have been tried in the Hauge, and taken into US custody as soon as he stepped foot on US soil.
Second, the left are so concerned about appearing open-minded that they never considered that Ahmadinejad's intent is to gain as much media exposure as possible. The moronic left gave that terrorist/criminal an international stage to spew his venomous propoganda -- exactly what he most desires.
Third, ... well, I'm not even going to bother voicing the plethora of other issues related to exposing our vulnerable youth, who are drowning within the deliberate left-wing brainwashing so prevalent among American colleges & universities to such a propogandist.
Columbia officials are unquestionably guilty of aiding and abetting the enemy. If their invitation doesn't meet with negative repercussions, specifically in the area of Federal Aid to students & research, then by golly we Americans had better start making a roarous clammoring.

Yup, I wonder how many other murderous thugs Columbia is willing to welcome to speak on their campus.

The left doesn't care what the hell he has done or who he has done it to, because he is a fellow after their own hearts.
He hates Bush almost as much as they do, and that makes him "good people" in their view.
You can bet that if he started ragging on BJ or Hillary that the left would be wanting to bomb Iran right back into the stone age.

A little exaggerated at the end, but you are hitting it spot on Destiny. Its all about hate bush, hate bush, hate bush and some people really have no idea who they are supporting in that prime directive. I've gone on record posting some of the things Ahmadinejad and Khamenei have said and what their version of "free speech" is.
If you disagree with the administration, fine, it happens. Just don't become so blind and baseless with it you are supporting someone executing homosexuals and women for basically nothing or someone declaring themselves President for Life. Its unbelievable. Do people pay attention to the world anymore? Or am I just yelling at a caravan that's already gone backwards over a cliff?
As for AJ, I'm still stunned he was allowed in the country. Did anyone hear his crybaby response at what happened because of the intro to the speech and some of the reactions of the saner students? I was actually laughing at points! What a bum.
