My grandson's and I went on a mission Saturday to collect newly colored leaves...We walked a couple miles through the woods, and found lots of leaves and a bonus...Acorns..and they were still wearing their hats....LOL...When we got home the fun began. The boys filled up my walls with leaves..It is so beautiful...Every year I would take the leaves and make a border around my living room and dining room...This year I let the boys do it all by themselves and it turned out spectacular...
This isn't even the height of all the leaves we could find...So we will be having many more hikes during the fall to collect more...
How about you, do you bring the outdoors, indoors?

It is a lot of fun to do with the kids as you already know...They have such a good time and they think up the greatest ideas too! They are the simple gifts that mean the most...HUGS

Because you have been doing this on a yearly basis it works for you but i know if i were to try this great idea LOL i would end up with a clogged vacumme because the children would want to tweek their work every 2 seconds.

I love Fall the best of the seasons with the changing leaves. They're just startingt to turn here.I usually buy the garland of leaves to put inside and other fall items like the ceramic pumpkins and scarecros the real stuff I set up outside. That sounds really pretty but how do you keep the leaves from crumpling eventually?,and do you tape them on paper or directly on the wall?,sounds fun!

Actually we just put them on the wall anyway they wanted too, and they have started to crumple, but they still look good. I think maybe modge podge (sp) from the craft store could keep them from doing that..Not really sure on that one...We just taped them right to the wall..They seem to be staying up there too!

The leaves are just beginning to change here in Eastern Ohio. We went to Michigan over the weekend and the leaves are much prettier there. I love to press a few leaves between wax paper every year. I really love the red leaves the most. Fall is my favorite time of the year.

That sounds like a fun day you had. I bring the outdoors in all the time. I love to decorate using nature. I usually just put the leaves on a table and then place small pumpkins and gards on them. It makes a beautiful center piece for the center of my kitchen table. I have not thought of putting them on the wall.

I've never done that with any leaves actually... My son will though collect them and glue them to paper and make something out of them like a heart or something in that sort... He always does a wonderful job at it too.. I can't believe though how fast the leaves have changed already in the matter of time they will be falling from the tree's and winter will soon be here...

I offered paper or the wall and they chose the wall which was a perfect idea...Next I think we will do paper and frame them so I can have the pictures displayed in my living room.. Your son sure does have great ideas...I think it was about 1 month ago I found 3 leaves already changing...

Feona, that's a great idea. How to you attach the leaves to the walls? I hope you took pictures of those boys decorating for gramma. :)
I love and adore the fall color of leaves. My daughters are great at finding the perfect leaf for mom. I like to mount them on homemade paper and then frame them. I have several picture frames hung around the house with some of those incredible leaves my kids find.
(DUH!) I just re-read the title of your discussion... TAPE! OK, so I've been a little sleepy lately. Must be the shorter days, and earlier nightfalls doing it to me. LOL!
Have a great time with those boys!!

Oh, here's an idea for those acorns...
My older daughter (she's 6) likes to take the caps off, and paint them orange. The pointed end becomes the top and she will paint little jack-o-latern faces on them. My husband then drills a tiny hole through them, and we string them as a garland. A lot of work, but it keeps her busy for a LONG while!

You can also keep the caps on (the acorns), and paint them to look like little elves for the holidays. I haven't done this yet, but I've seen them done. They are so cute!
