I'm looking for any ideas that anyone may have pertaining to traveling on a budget. I'm planning a cross country road trip next summer and don't know if I can get the funds together. Anyone know any secrets or tips? This would be very helpful!

A few years ago my boyfriend and I traveled around California in a 19 foot camper van. It was awesome. It had a little kitchen, a toilet, shower, a nice bed. We had a great time and we saved money on hotels. And the cost was unbelievable. If you rent it during off season it's cheaper. It actually turned out cheaper than renting a car if you figure all the other costs like lodging, it's all in one. If you figure the hotel costs and eating out every stop it can save money. You can buy food from the grocery store and cook it on your stove in the van so that saves on food. The gas is higher than two years ago when I did it but it's something you can look into.
