My cocker spaniel, Gizmo

He is 1 of my hyper dogs, Mini, my mini pin, Mini, is actually more hyper, but he's right up there close. He loves to harass my cats. I am not sure if he would actually hurt them, or if he just likes to play. I couldn't count the times, that I've caught him, pulling them across the floor, or the yard by the tail. Some of them, just squeal, and go along for the ride. Others will slap him, and others will finally get away and run. Sometimes when I holler at him, he'll leave them alone, other times, I'll have to go pick up the cat, and get it away from him. Other times, he'll just be really loving, so I'm not sure if he's doing it, because he thinks they are his own personal squeaky toys, or if he just likes to aggravate, or if he would hurt them, if given the right chance. He has lots of squeaky toys, and he plays with them, but it seems like, the more the cat hollers, the more he likes to go back and aggravate them. Does anyone else have a dog like that. How do you stop them?

I guess there is no stopping him as long as the cats let him. You could, but it would take a lot of work on our part. You could start with when you caught him tell him in a rough voice no,take the cat and tell him no,every time you see a cat around him let know he is not to play with it.When he does good give him a reward. That is how I teach my dogs to gt along with cats.

My Lucy dog just wants to play with her ball, rope or other throw toys, she could go all day. Sometimes she plays with other dogs but not often. Her play mate, Blinky Bill is always smooching with Lucy to try and get her to play but she won't be in it. Even the cat smooches Luce, rubs against her, sticks his bum in Lucy's face, curls up with her when she goes to bed, licks her feet and ears when they snuggle on the floor at my feet. Lucy hates it! But she tolerates it to a point then moves. Our cat also goes after dogs, esp the little ones...he and Blinky have a wonderful time touselling with each other. It's the cat who is boss tho'

I know it's a problem, but it sounds so cute! It's like the dog has ADD. I like to see cats and dogs play nice. My dogs aren't like that. If I take them to my parent's to run around, the neighbors cats are also usually in the same place. One of my dogs just ignores them and the other will right next to them and lay down beside them. That usually scares the cats though, and they take off.

It is cute to watch them play. He's not so bad with the ones in the house, as he is with the outside ones. If they run from him, and some of them do, he tends to get mad, and those are the ones that he wants to aggravate the most. Mini is ok with the cats most of the time, but she's jeoulos and grabs them as I'm picking them up, she'll grab their tail or something, and she bites hard. She's about the same size as most of the cats, so they have more of a chance to stand their ground with her. lol

I was thinking about obedience school, I'm not sure if we have one nearby, but I think Mini and Gizzy both need to go.
