Replies to your discussions and earnings

yesterday someone had written in one of the discussions that you don't get any earnings for getting replies to your discussions and this is merely a myth. i haven't had any good discussions (where i have received many replies) from which i can compare and decide if this thing is actually right... so can someone tell if this is actually just a 'myth'?
