In Asian countries the police force is considered a corrupt lot. when you open the pages of dailies there will be incidents to prove the police force is not acting according to the law of the country, but the money power buy them. Even in films and tv serials the producers and directors openly have scenes to prove the policemen on fault taking side when complaints come to them. Even top policemen is shown in films that they are corrupt and it cannot be denied by the police personnel themselves as whatever shown in films are happening in real life. But there are genuine police officers too who work for the welfare of the people but they are either suppressed by their higher officials or helpless in certain times and remain silent. If you have money you can bring the law in Asians countries to your door step. Is it posible and practicable in other countries too by using currency notes to bring the law to your side when you are on fault.?

They give me a bad impression, and i dont' want to make a connection with them. When i was a high school student, then a classmate's father is a general chief of police force. so he was very arrogant. and he often treated badly to other students. one day, a boy couldn't bear him, then he hit the arrogant boy. then his father ordered someone take the boy out of our school, then we couldn't see him until graduate from high school. One day, i saw him mending shoes in a wheelchair in the streets, then i felt very surprised, and he pretended not to know me. i knew the truth at once.

I would say not only Asian Policemen are corrupt, even in other states, there are corrupt policemen. Even there are corrupt politician in a place there will be corrupt policemen. But there are also honest policemen in most asian countries. The reason why they are considered corrupt is because some of them were caught and in the news. But those who do good works often times were not in the news. I still believe it is a 60 % good policemen and 40% corrupt policemen. No specific statistics but thats how I grade them. I met lots of good policemen and very few corrupt policemen.

You are right .To be short the public are more scared and shy away from the police than from the bad elements and thieves.

In my country this a problem too. Cops stop a driver on the road and if you dont "give him a thing" you end up in the trafic court with some lies being told on you. But as you said not all of them are bad. I have 2 brothers in the force and they are good people. Honest, hardworking and reliable blokes. So I guess in every country we have the same problesm though the levels might be higher or lesser. It is every where just watch our news for one week (Jamaica) and you will see and hear. I believe at times that they are blamed wrongfully too but because they have abused their authority so often people has lost faith in them.

Cops and corruption go hand in hand. There are a very few policement in each state known for absolute honesty. It is the unscrupolous people who tempt the policemen with money or materials to get the things done. They catch the innocent and leave out the real culprits. Again this is due to corruption.

Hi subathra! Base on my experience since from childhood and how I have watch police act, I don't think they are honestly doing their duty the way they are suppose to cos they politicians, rich men/women have made the police their servant (though I regard American police base on what I have seen on news and ofcourse the movies I have watched. Thanks
